As an intern for the Purchasing, Inventory and Contracts organization, you will be assisting one of the following functional areas: Purchasing, Inventory Control, Inventory Planning, Scraps, Repairs, Contracts, Finance and other assignments as designated by the Director of Materials.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

  • Assist Purchasing with supplier follow-up of late PO/Repair orders and aged supplier billing
  • Coordinate and communicate with Materials/Receiving Department on receipt of Purchase Orders, resolve any discrepancies with vendors
  • Assist in the development and documentation of desk top procedures and policies
  • Work with Purchasing in the development of sourcing strategies; i.e. supplier development, request for proposals, contracts, other
  • Assist in the development and implementation of initiatives around process improvements that drive cost reduction
  • Assist in monitoring internal process controls
  • Assist with the development and review of Key Performance Indicators which drive internal and external performance improvements
  • Provide analytical support for projects, new business opportunities, and proposals
  • Assist in the preparation of Gate Reviews to develop outsourcing strategies
  • Assist the warranties administrator in tracking supplier and customer warranty considerations and insurance claims
  • Assist in analyzing inventory levels, production turn over and stock demand to determine reorder levels which will ensure materials availability and minimize inventory costs.
  • Perform other duties as directed, assigned and/or required to meet position and departmental objectives
Job Requirements:  
  • This internship program is open to full-time college students currently pursuing a BA/BS or Masters, in one or more of the following disciplines: Supply Chain Management, Accounting, Finance, Information Systems.
  • Understanding of SOX compliance
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good working knowledge of PC software, such as Excel
  • Database skills such as DWH, Cubes, Access or SQL a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft Project a plus
  • Self-motivated, with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
  • Analytical ability along with the ability to work individually and as a member of a team
