Position Overview:

Perform engineering tasks in support of the fixed wing and/or rotary wing Aircraft Structural Integrity Programs (ASIP). Working as part of a team, the Junior ASIP Engineer will work under the supervision and alongside more senior engineers, to allow for guidance and mentoring opportunities. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work both independently, as well as in group settings and will be required to manage their own time effectively in order to accomplish assigned tasks.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

* Perform engineering design, tasks and analyses in support of the ASIP;

* Conduct Structural Condition Monitoring (SCM), including performing assessments of repairs previously installed on the aircraft structure and corrosion monitoring;

* Conduct Structural Usage Monitoring (SUM), including the verification and analysis on aircraft spectra, usage and fatigue data;

* Perform assessments and analyses in support of the Structurally Significant Item (SSI) process;

* Assist in the preparation of formal Reports and other engineering deliverables;

* Support the analysis of structural repairs on an as required basis;

* Conduct Durability and Damage Tolerance Analyses (D/DTA) under the supervision of a senior D/DTA specialist;

* Conduct analysis of recorded aircraft structural data including strain or vibration data;

* Participate in aircraft equipment installation projects on an as required basis;

* Prepare software/database requirements, user instructions and testing documentation;

* Perform software testing according to prepared test scripts;

* Other duties as tasked/required.

Position Requirements:

* Bachelors or Masters in Aeronautical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering.

* Experience: New graduate - 3 years of aerospace experience

* Eligible for membership in, or member in good standing of, the Association of Professional Engineers of Nova Scotia (APENS) or equivalent.

* Working knowledge of human resources principles and practices including the Canada Labour Code, Human Rights and Employment Equity legislation

* Excellent oral, written and presentation skills

* Extensive knowledge of the MS Office and MS Windows environments

* Knowledge of one, several or all of the following will be considered an asset:

1. Aircraft structures

2. Engineering drawing systems specifically those from an aircraft manufacturer

3. Static analysis, fatigue analysis and fracture mechanics

4. Classical stress analysis and finite element modelling and analysis

5. Strain gauges and/or vibration monitoring equipment and systems

6. Corrosion monitoring and control

7. Collection, reduction, analysis and trending of engineering data

8. Statistical analysis

9. Computer programming and databases

10. Testing and documentation of computer software

* Ability to work both independently and in a team environment as required by the individual task

* Willingness and enthusiasm to learn
