Experienced special communications engineering lead for a variety of programs within Advanced Systems Development.
Will be responsible for the design, development, integration, test, and operational capability of various US government special communications programs.
Responsibilities include developing, executing, leading and participating in various phases of a multiple special communications space programs to include concept studies, technical development, integration and testing of subsystems and space systems, and operational utilization.
Develops and validates requirements for various complex communication systems and components. Develops architectures to integrate complex systems and components into higher level systems and platforms. Performs complicated trade studies, modeling, simulation and other forms of analysis to predict component, interconnects and system performance and to optimize design around established requirements. Defines and conducts critical tests of various kinds to validate performance of designs to requirements. Manages appropriate aspects of critical supplier and partner performance to ensure compliance to requirements. Provides support to products throughout their lifecycle from manufacturing to customer use by providing guidance and support to resolve complex issues. Supports project management by providing coordinating development of work statement, budget, schedule and other required inputs and conducting appropriate reviews. Generates major sections of proposals to support development of new business. Works under minimal direction.

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in electrical engineering. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Preferred in the following disciplines: Electrical Engineering or closely related.
Extensive, specialized knowledge of special communication design criteria and processes to include system analysis (e.g. link budgets analysis) and end-to-end evaluation via data collection, analysis, and optimization.
Experience in a variety of government and/or commercial special communications waveforms and satellite communications systems to include software defined radios at the communication subsystem level. Experience with network layer, routing, and other IP protocols of communications or networking systems and knowledge of vulnerabilities, security, and exploitation tools.
Experience in end-to-end special communications program development from concept to test to operations to include conducting field tests that validate communications system level performance.
Experience in government space, Department of Defense and Intelligence Community communication approval processes.

This position requires an active Top Secret/SSBI U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)
