Job Description

American Airlines Federal Credit Union has an opening for a full-time Vacation Relief Loan Officer that will be based out of the branch located in Jamaica, New York. The position will involve travel to provide coverage primarily in our North region, but should anticipate there could travel to other states. This will include covering any of our other branches as needed. 

Branch hours will vary based on branch assignment.  The schedule for this position will be set based upon operational needs and requires a Saturday rotation.  The selected candidate must have flexibility to provide coverage any time during branch hours, as needed, as well as attend required meetings or Credit Union events before or after hours as scheduled.

 

The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring the security and confidentiality of all account and related information which is part of their work and for ensuring that his/her work is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act. 

 

Job level to be determined based upon qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.

Job duties include:

  • Processing new loan applications, which includes interviewing the member, analyzing credit reports and documentation and offering the best product to meet member needs
  • Exercising lending authority to correctly handle all loan requests, including but not limited to consumer loans
  • Create and promote positive name recognition for the Credit Union   
  • Supporting or speaking publicly at special Credit Union events
  • Work with branch/department managers and staff to identify and leverage cross-selling opportunities
  • Researching member inquiries and providing solutions as required in a timely manner
  • Awareness of all branch functions and duties to ensure proper support and coverage is provided at all times
  • Implementing and enforcing internal control and security measures in accordance with Credit Union policies and government regulations
  • Fostering a culture that promotes teamwork, service excellence and relationship building within the covered branches and overall organization
  • Handling responsibilities of a Member Services Representative as needed
  • Providing coverage for management vacations nationally
  • Flexibility to perform other duties as assigned
  • Work in a rotating Saturday schedule
  • Perform Notary Services as required

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • College degree preferred
  • Previous credit approval authorization, credit union, and finance company experience preferred
  • Previous lending experience preferred
  • Must be able to read, write, fluently speak and understand the English language
  • Bilingual, including the ability to speak, read, and write Spanish a plus
  • Candidate must have flexibility to travel as needed to help cover other branches and overtime as needed; sometimes weeks per assignment
  • Must have excellent member service skills, excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Applicant must be very comfortable in a sales-culture environment with a desire to cross sell Credit Union products and services
  • Strong organizational skills and capacity for attention to detail
  • Good aptitude for mathematics and analytical ability
  • Must be able to work well independently and with minimal supervision
  • Capable of effectively working with people of varying backgrounds and levels and securing inter- and intra-departmental and external cooperation

  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
  • Must work well under deadlines and high volume pressure
  • Above average interpersonal and communication skills and professional manner
  • Ability to proficiently use standard office equipment and PC software and applications necessary to perform job duties
  • Satisfactory performance and attendance are required
  • Candidates will be required to pass applicable American Airlines pre-hire compliance checks
  • Must fulfill FAA criminal background checks to qualify for unescorted access privileges to airport security identification display areas (SIDA), if applicable
  • Must have acceptable credit history, which will be verified (e.g., no past due accounts, charge-offs, collection items or bankruptcies)
