Manager Accommodation Programs

The Manager Accommodations Programs is responsible for managing Delta's Job Accommodation Program and Alternative Position Assistance by developing policies and procedures and leading a team to analyze and implement job accommodations and manage placement services in compliance with federal and state laws and regulations. 

Responsibilities include developing, communicating, implementing, and training policies and procedures; managing a team of Accommodation Specialists to implement the Job Accommodation Program and Alternative Position Assistance; reviewing accommodation requests from employees, job candidates, and others; reviewing medical documentation; communicating with employees, leaders, Human Resources professionals, and medical personnel by telephone, email, and/or in writing; managing interactive accommodation discussions; conducting site visits and reasonable accommodation analysis; risk management analysis; addressing issues and concerns with leaders and stakeholders; analyzing and making key decisions regarding accommodation requests; communicating and documenting accommodation results; managing accommodation recordkeeping and data reporting and analysis, identifying training needs, developing materials, and delivering accommodation training to leaders and Human Resources professionals; analyzing data and reports and responding to accommodation issues. 

The Manager willl also interact with employees, Accommodation Specialists, leaders, Human Resources, and Talent Management to manage Alternative Position Assistance services, including r sum development, interview skills, gap analysis, interview feedback, and other services. The Manager will conduct regular accommodation case management review and will recommend and implement process improvements. The Manager will research and analyze accommodation trends. He/she may provide testimony on behalf of the Company in legal or governmental proceedings or investigations. 

The Manager is also responsible for managing Delta's Religious Accommodations program. The Manager will develop policies and procedures and analyze and implement religious accommodations in compliance with federal and state laws and regulations. Responsibilities include developing, communicating, implementing, and training policies and procedures; reviewing accommodation requests; communicating with employees, leaders, and Human Resources professionals, conducting accommodation discussions and reasonable accommodation analysis; risk management analysis; addressing issues and concerns with leaders and stakeholders; analyzing and making key decisions regarding accommodation requests; communicating and documenting accommodation results; managing accommodation recordkeeping and data reporting and analysis, identifying training needs, developing materials, and delivering accommodation training to leaders and Human Resources professionals; and analyzing accommodation data and reports and responding to accommodation issues. 

The Manager is also responsible for reviewing all Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) appeals. The Manager must have a strong knowledge of Delta policy and FMLA regulations and case law to ensure compliance. The Manager will review FMLA appeals and medical certification; communicate with the employee, leader; and Delta's FMLA vendor; analyze FMLA information, including risk management analysis, make decisions, respond appropriately to all stakeholders, and track and analyze FMLA appeals data. 

The Manager is also responsible for developing, documenting, communicating, and training Accommodation/EO policies and procedures as needed. The Manager will coordinate with leaders and Human Resources professionals to develop and review policies and processes and develop appropriate communication, training, and implementation strategies. 

Perform all other tasks as necessary or as assigned. The Manager will practice safety conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures. 


JOB QUALIFICATIONS: 

Bachelor's degree in human resources management, business management or in a related field of study is required. Five years experience in employment law, human resources, or vocational rehabilitation required. Must have a demonstrated track record in employee relations involving ADA, Title VII and FMLA matters. Must have prior experience in EO training and development, project management, and coaching/consulting. Knowledge and experience with work involving federal and state discrimination and harassment employment laws required.

Must be able to understand and effectively apply legal concepts related to medical and religious accommodation assessments and FMLA reviews. Must be willing and able to work flexible hours and travel as required. Supervisory experience strongly preferred. Working knowledge of Delta's HR procedures and processes preferred. Prior experience in training others on departmental procedures and/or HR policies is desirable.

Should possess strong personal interactive and communication abilities (both written and verbal), as well as analytical, problem solving, and facilitation skills. Must be able to read, write, and comprehend detailed materials. Should have the ability to work under pressure and balance multiple priorities within tight time constraints. Should be an initiator and self-motivator who possesses the ability to work without close supervision. Should have a strong overall working knowledge of core HR and business functions. Should be able to work effectively with frontline employees and all levels of management within the Company. A high degree of professionalism and confidentiality is required. PC proficiency including experience with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access database systems, Deers, DL term and TesserAct preferred. Must be performing satisfactorily in current position
