Job Description

American Airlines, Inc. is looking for a Application Development Manager to be part of the Airport Automation team, design, implement and support a suite of applications which will be widely used in the airports.  The role directs a diverse team of technologists engaged in various projects in airports domain.  The candidate will take ownership to remove roadblocks, cultivate relationships, and effectively communicate across Enterprise and Federated Infrastructure teams.  

Job Qualifications


  • Manage and lead adoption and migration of new and emerging technologies
  • Drive progress towards technology target roadmaps
  • Develop and mentor a team of highly skilled technologists
  • Lead, influence and establish technology standards
  • Provide leadership over a variety of heterogeneous technologies from J2EE, .Net and open source technologies
  • Maintain an effective approach on problem solving, multi-tasking, coordinating and scheduling in accordance with stated goals to ensure visibility and predictability

Job Qualifications (Continued)


  • Minimum 10 year’s experience in IT and 5 years’ experience overseeing large technology projects from inception to implementation in an enterprise environment
  • Strong leadership skills and proven ability to communicate and collaborate with different audiences
  • Ability to effectively lead staff under potentially high stress and challenging situations
  • Delegate responsibilities effectively
  • Demonstrated initiative, flexibility and ability to adapt to changing priorities and work environments
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style
  • Experience in managing ‘mission-critical’ projects/migrations
  • Working knowledge and experience in technology environment (desktop computing, hardware and operating systems, networks, telecommunications etc.)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Management or other related field or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with airline business processes and supporting technology preferred
  • Be available to manage production issues and off-hours support, communication and coordination
  • Travel as required
  • ITIL/Agile/Scrum certifications preferred
