For the People Communications Manager this means you are passionate about employee engagement and understand the value of communicating a company’s vision and commitment to providing a first-class place to work.

The People Communications Manager reports to the Director Corporate Communications and partners with the entire People leadership and Corporate Communications teams, as well as Department leadership on a regular basis. The Manager is responsible for creating, implementing and managing strategic internal communications plans that support People team initiatives and People brand. In addition, the Manager also oversees the People Intranet strategy and content and manages the site day-to-day.

The Manager works in conjunction with Corporate Communications to ensure consistent communication across all platforms on People initiatives. The Manager is comfortable speaking with people at various levels within and outside of the organization and using appropriate interpersonal styles to gain acceptance of ideas or plans.  The Manager is a focused and effective communication leader whose personal values match JetBlue’s values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Fun and Passion. 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Create and direct the communication strategy for the People team in conjunction with CorpComm and People leadership

  • Evaluate current and future methods for Crewmember communication of People initiatives, and keeps abreast of industry trends, including but not limited to social media (i.e. LinkedIn)

  • Develops People team intranet strategy in conjunction with CorpComm

  • Develop program to measure effectiveness of people communication

  • Managers and oversees all aspects of internal communications that support People initiatives

  • Writes messages to Crewmembers on behalf of the People leadership team

  • Supports change management and communication programs aligned to large corporate initiatives as they relate to People programs

  • Ensures the department’s communication channels, including but not limited to, the Intranet, electronic newsletters, printed newsletters are aligned with People and JetBlue corporate strategy and People Brand

  • Partner with People leadership, Marketing and Corporate Communication to continue to develop the “People Brand” consistent with our company mission and values and review all Crewmember people touch points and develop a consistent message, look and feel that supports the “People Brand.”

  • Acts as backup after-hours and weekend media relations/spokesperson duties as needed on behalf of the company; crisis communication role; event support

  • Other duties assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing and/or other communications related fields.

  • Six (6) years demonstrated experience in communications, marketing and/or public relations.

  •  Must possess strong organizational, planning, and time-management abilities to be able to produce multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines

  • Excellent communication skills, including writing, proofreading skills, and speaking.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Managing a communication campaign 

  • Attention to detail and while providing exceptional customer service with little supervision.

  • Available for occasional overnight travel (25%)

  • Currently in possession of a valid Passport with the ability to travel in and out of the United States

  • Excellent troubleshooting/problem-solving skills.

  • Able to pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test.

  • Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Eight (8) years of professional corporate communications or agency experience.

  • Expertise in developing presentations and executive messages

  • Development and implementation of large scale communication plans

  • Expertise in HR, Benefits, Total Rewards communications/messaging

Crewmember Expectations:

  • Regular attendance and punctuality

  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice

  • Well groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance

  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
  • Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun

  •  Normal Office Environment

Physical Effort:  

  • Generally not required, or up to 10 pounds occasionally, 0 pounds frequently. (Sedentary)
