As part of the Corporate IT Operations team, the IT Manager, Disaster Recovery and Operations will report into the IT Operations Manager.
 
The incumbent will be responsible for the following activities:
  • Providing governance for the overall resiliency & disaster recovery program
  • Ensuring alignment with business and regulatory requirements;
  • Responsible for coordinating, tracking and execution of DR & Resiliency certification schedules;
  • Driving resiliency & disaster recovery optimization, re-engineering, process and technology solutions across business and technology domains;
  • Championing disaster recovery services and promoting opportunities for business and IT teams to leverage team skills and competencies.
  • Managing and optimizing governance for overall change management to ensure a consistent and rigorous application of structured change control based on key metrics.
  • Work with internal and external teams to integrate change management activities into the overall business processes to ensure that all areas that are impacted are aware and prepared including participation on the Change Review Board.
  • Quickly understand, distill and report out on major incidents and associated impact to various stakeholders as well as facilitating escalation when needed.
  • Conduct and/or attend post-mortem meetings & attend weekly operational review meetings to help improve impact and operational performance measurement models and metrics.
  • Create reports and alerts to act as quick indicators of incidents and overall service health.
  • Document and maintain specific operational processes and standards.
 

 

Qualifications
 
  • University degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or the equivalent, combined with experience in business and application high availability architectures, systems analysis and design, disaster recovery or business continuity planning is required.
  • ITIL Foundation V3 certification with 1 to 2 years experience in the following processes: Incident Management, Problem Management and Release Management would be an asset.
  • Strong working knowledge and experience performing Business Impact Analysis and Risk Assessments is required.
  • Experience in creating materials and presenting to business and executive audience, and translating IT solutions and terminology into business friendly terms is required. Including:
    • business case and IT capital planning methodology, techniques, cost-benefit and portfolio management;
    • knowledge of financial models, budgeting.
  • Sound knowledge of Application Performance Management processes and tools in a large enterprise environment would be an asset.
  • Sound knowledge of disaster recovery frameworks and best practice areas (ie. DRII, BCI, TOGAF and NIST) would be an asset. Including:
    • approaches to resiliency & disaster recovery planning, capabilities, processes, testing and reporting
    • approaches to aligning IT to business and strategy.
  • Strong IT application and systems infrastructure background with understanding of:
    • Hardware (servers, appliances, firewalls, storage systems, LAN/WAN network, including wireless LAN)
    • Operating systems (Windows, Linux, Unix)
    • Database management systems
    • High-Availability (clusters, fail-over and load-balancing)
    • Virtualization (VMWare, LPARS)
  • Excellent analytical skills and structured approach to problem solving.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt, plan, prioritize and negotiate, direct and co-ordinate activities of a group of professional/technical staff to ensure quality/quantity standards are maintained in an ever-changing environment.
  • Must have the ability to work with a diverse set of stakeholders and to translate business needs into technology and process requirements, define multiple solution options to business problems and quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills and effective conceptualization, pattern recognition, presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to actively utilize Agile, Kanban, and Scrum methodologies to manage workflows.
