Title Manager, FOQA/FRMP

Manages the daily administration, security and operation of the Flight Operational Quality Assurance (FOQA) and Fatigue Risk Management programs. The manager ensures aircraft data downloading, analysis, software/computer management, program meetings, and other projects as assigned by the Manager of Flight Safety are completed as required.  Directly interfaces with the gatekeepers and ALPA Safety Committee members on all areas related to FOQA and FRMP.  Promotes Spirit Airline’s Safety Culture through interactions/ presentations with key stakeholders internally and externally through the FOQA and FRMP programs and industry safety conferences.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages the daily administration of the FOQA and FRMP programs.
  • Oversees data collection process of aircraft fleet in conjunction with Maintenance Planning.
  • Screens downloaded data for accuracy, integrity and validity.
  • Performs data analysis, root cause analysis, and assists in identifying adverse events or trends in flight operations.
  • Coordinate the development, verification and validation of aircraft specific event definitions as appropriate relating to FOQA.
  • Ensures the proper functioning of FOQA software, hardware, and associated peripherals.
  • Work with ALPA Gatekeepers in identifying adverse trends.
  • Chairs the FOQA program monthly meeting with ALPA gatekeepers and other key stakeholders.
  • Prepare flight operations trending analysis and charts.
  • Screens fatigue reports for accuracy, integrity, validity and trends.
  • Chairs the FRMP program monthly meeting with ALPA Safety and company stakeholders.
  • Co-author, post and revise content relevant to FOQA and FRMP trends via newsletter, EFB and divisional department website.
  • Present FOQA and FRMP information to various internal and external groups such as senior management, pilots, industry, and governmental agencies.

Required skills/experience:

  • Four-year college degree desired, preferably in Aviation, science or engineering field.
  • FAA Pilot Certification: Commercial/ATP Preferred
  • Work experience, preferably in 14CFR Part 121 air carrier operations; quality control, maintenance, operations, safety - or a combination thereof.
  • Basic computer programming and statistical analysis experience preferred
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs, including database and spreadsheet programs.
  • Proficient verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
