We design and manufacture aerospace systems for commercial, regional, corporate, and military aircraft and are a major supplier for defense, surveillance, and space programs.
The Operations Strategy and Cost Management organization is seeking an experienced and proactive individual to drive transformational change of our operations. We are seeking a versatile and proven leader able to create and execute a comprehensive strategy to achieve manufacturing engineering and factory automation goals consistent with the Aerostructures’ Operations Site & Supply Strategy.
The candidate must have demonstrated program management skills and a proven ability to work in a team environment to oversee the deployment of a portfolio of projects. Candidate must possess a continuous improvement mindset and be comfortable driving change through the development of automation while being able to effectively partner with other functions to ensure alignment and business success. This position will report to the Director of Operations Strategy and Cost Management.
Identify opportunities to drive standardization across manufacturing engineering processes and cost reduction
Interface with internal customers and operational leaders to ensure coordination and integration of manufacturing strategies across sites
Identify leading automation technologies and methodologies for partnership, procurement or adaptation and deployment across Aerostructures where appropriate.
Identify opportunities and implement automation solutions that will provide cost savings, quality improvements and/or cycle time reductions in partnership with sites
Manage automation investments with site manufacturing engineering teams to ensure appropriate prioritization and capture of benefits.
Govern the onboarding of both new and existing products into Aerostructures’ applicable manufacturing sites to ensure alignment with project schedules and budgets
Partner with site and program Continuous Improvement teams to deploy automation based productivity plans for projects that yield reduced costs and higher efficiencies
Engage in Lean Product and Process Development with both Operations and Engineering teams to provide inputs and guidance on technology, costs, manufacturability, and rate readiness to ensure a robust and cost effective design for manufacturing
Collaborate with integrators and influence site focused automation deployment teams to ensure commonality and consistency where appropriate
Determine Manufacturing Readiness Levels to accept the production of new products and support new program introduction review process
Lead regular reviews to ensure that the deployment of strategic manufacturing technologies remain on track to meet their strategic goals and objectives
The ideal candidate must be able to communicate effectively with cross-functional departments of Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, along with Aerostructures senior leadership and other business units.
5-7 years of Engineering experience in a discrete manufacturing environment, ideally in a Manufacturing or Process Engineering role focused on driving cost reduction through improved efficiencies
Culturally competent with an inclusive mindset
Ability to lead through adversity, push status quo and motivate/influence others
Confident in organizational, interpersonal and communication skills across levels and in various settings
Robust problem solving skills in both functional areas of operations and interpersonal relationship management
Must have strong communication skills and be process-oriented and results driven.
BS in Engineering or Related Science
An MBA is desirable
