KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The manager of MRO maintenance reports to the managing director of technical services

  • Responsible for the overall leadership and direction of the MRO maintenance process

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the MRO maintenance process to ensure safe maintenance operations and compliance with all company, FAA, and governmental safety rules and regulations including the airworthiness of all company aircraft released from MRO maintenance

  • Provides leadership and direction to ensure that high standards of performance are maintained in the areas of safety, compliance, quality and cost

  • Ensures by periodic personal observation and sampling that all maintenance performed is documented and accomplished in accordance with all company and regulatory requirements

  • Initiates and ensures effective corrective action for any deficiencies identified in the MRO maintenance process

  • Communicates and administers corporate policies and goals to assigned personnel to ensure a continuing understanding of the company's commitment to safety and compliance

  • Ensures the MRO maintenance process is followed to ensure airworthy reliable aircraft are returned to service

  • Ensures the shift turnover process is effective and meets the requirements of the turnover procedure

  • Monitors daily staffing levels to ensure adequate staffing to met oversight requirements for MRO maintenance

  • Monitors the future MRO check and modification plan to determine the impact of schedule changes to the MRO maintenance operation

  • Coordinates with production planning the scheduling and priorities of MRO maintenance

  • Coordinates the implementation and accomplishment of the scheduled MRO maintenance and modification work plan efficiently and effectively with the other managers of base and line maintenance, shop maintenance, quality control, and MRO OSR maintenance supervisors

  • Interfaces with all maintenance departments on a regular basis to ensure coordination and compliance

  • Develops and administers the budget for MRO maintenance

  • Monitors the condition of capital equipment for MRO maintenance and recommends the need for replacement, repositioning, or retirement as appropriate

  • Selects qualified MRO on site representative (OSR) supervisor positions to ensure consistent compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and accepted industry practices

  • Ensures frequent effective communication and recognition with all assigned personnel

  • Ensures the current union contract, company policy, department policy, applicable federal, state, and local regulations are adhered to in personnel matters

  • Develops the skills, qualities, and capabilities of the onsite representative within the MRO maintenance

  • Is a voting member of the reliability review board in accordance with the voting procedure of the reliability program manual

  • Assist the company on site representative (OSR) in resolving issues or deficiencies in the company's inspection program, the company maintenance program, record keeping, or other company processes

  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Has had a mechanic certificate with airframe and powerplant ratings for at least 7 years, and meets the recent experience requirements of 14 CFR 65.83 (six months experience in the last 24), required

  • A minimum of three years of commercial airline supervisory or management experience or experience acceptable to the Managing Director of Maintenance Operations, required

  • Has a thorough working knowledge of Aviation safety standards and safe operating practices, Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs), and all appropriate maintenance and airworthiness requirements of 14 CFR Parts 1, 21, 25, 43, 45, 47, 65, 91, 119 and 121, required

  • Has knowledge of General Procedures Manual (GPM) and other company manuals, preferred

  • Demonstrated leadership and organization skills, required

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, required

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage, plan and analyze MRO check maintenance workload and staffing requirements, required

  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with maintenance personnel and regulatory officials, required

  • Demonstrated professional work ethic, required

  • Has an understanding of Horizon Air operations specifications or equivalent with other air carrier, preferred

  • Valid state issued drivers license and United States Passport, required

  • High school diploma or equivalent, required

  • Authorization to work in the U.S., required

  • Minimum age of 18, required
