What does a Manager of Powerplant Engineering do for Allegiant?

The Manager of Powerplant Engineering coordinates the development, maintenance of programs associated with the engines and APUs on the Allegiant fleet, based upon the regulatory and operational. The Manger overlooks the preparation of engineering documents
for these items.

What are some of the daily duties of a Manager of Powerplant Engineering?

* Manage a staff of several engineers within the Powerplant engineering team.
* Create processes to help maintain the Powerplants to a high standard of reliability.

* Develop and maintain a Powerplant health monitoring program.
* Coordinate the process for repair of engines on-wing and at the shop.
* Assist with the definition of work scopes and builds of engines/APUs while in the shop.

* Review and/or ensure review of Airworthiness Directives and/or other regulatory or company documents to ensure compliance to all requirements.

* Evaluate the incorporation of modifications and repairs and assist in the development of the appropriate engineering documentation.

* Review and/or ensure review of documents provided to Engineering via the source document system to improve reliability and maintain compliance (Example: Service Bulletins).

* Coordinate with the OEM to determine areas of improvements for the Powerplants.

* Introduce/evaluate procedural changes where reliability could be gained associated with Powerplants.

* Coordinate with other teams within the company, such as Line and Heavy Maintenance, Quality, Planning to accomplish modifications/repairs on the Allegiant fleet.

* Provide Support for Line Aircraft, Aircraft Induction, Maintenance Checks, Materials and other departments, as needed.

* Assist in the financial analysis and project planning for incorporation.
* Coordinate with engineering organizations outside of Allegiant Air in the preparation and oversight of engineering projects relating to modifications and repair of Powerplants.

* Coordinate with other groups within Allegiant to identify the technical requirements for the operation.

* Manage team projects and provide guidance to help meet timelines for project execution.

* Keep engaged with the latest developments in the industry to determine areas for improvements.

* Support process improvements within the department and other areas, as needed.

* Other duties as assigned by the Director of Engineering

What are the minimum requirements to be a Manager of Powerplant Engineering?

* B.S. in Engineering or equivalent work experience plus;

* Equivalent Work Experience: 5 years’ experience in an engineering department at a commercial airline or MRO as a Powerplant Engineer.

* Preferred, but not required:

* FAA Airframe and Powerplant license preferred.
* 2 years’ experience in an engineering management role preferred.
* Experience in building engine health monitoring programs.

What other skills, knowledge, and qualifications are needed to be a Manager of Powerplant Engineering?

* General knowledge of aircraft Powerplants.
* Knowledge and experience with the CFM56 engine.
* Knowledge and experience with Honeywell 1319A APU.
* Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills to effectively communicate in a variety of settings across all organizational levels.

* Project management skills.
* Proficiency in Windows applications, including Microsoft Office.
* Superior problem solving and conflict resolution abilities, solid judgment, and influencing skills.

* Proven ability to multitask and balance multiple priorities simultaneously with the ability to be flexible with the changing needs of our business.

* Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen.
* Must have authorization to work in the U.S. as defined in the Immigrations Act of 1986.

* Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (High Visibility clothing, Ear protection, safety glasses) when required
