Summary/Objective:  The Manager of Training and Development works closely with teams across the company to drive the success of our on-site and on-line training programs, developing creative strategies to engage learners, building new programs of study and improving existing curriculum. 
The ideal candidate should be a superior communicator, able to work with subject matter experts from both technical and business teams to creatively transform technical concepts into educational materials.  The right individual will have the ability to analyze large amounts of information and, from this, create engaging, educational courses.

  • Identify, develop, and implement curriculums for both salaried and management level employees throughout the company.
  • Evaluate training requirements and business objectives to identify and develop specific training and learning solutions for PSA leaders and employees.
  • Develop and implement on-going needs assessment for both companywide programs and department specific needs.
  • Based on the on-going needs assessment coordinate the development of short term and long term strategic training plans with senior management.
  • Directs and cultivates effective collaboration with third party vendors and programs.  Design and deliver of both in-house and with expert third parties, solutions that include a blended approach to learning such as coaching, classroom training, experiential learning, distance learning and online learning.  
  • Coordinate the training schedule and assist instructors preparing for specific courses.
  • Organize, implement, and evaluate training programs which may supplement existing training activities.
  • Promote a culture of assessment and continuous improvement through administration of effective training and learning evaluation.
  • Lead the overall design and coordination of periodic leadership events.
  • Participate in preparation of the budget for the training programs.
  • Responsible for performing a variety of administrative tasks such as preparing training materials, instructors manuals, training curriculums and the creation of visual aids.
  • Attendance is considered an essential responsibility.
  • Adherence to all Company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department and company.

Supervisory Responsibility:  This is a supervisory position.
Work Environment:  This job operates in a professional office environment.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, facsimile machines and filing cabinets.
Physical Demands:  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  This is largely a sedentary role; however, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb up and down stairs; lift weight up to 25 lbs; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:  This is a full-time position.  Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday typically from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with occasional extended periods of time as necessary.
Travel:  This position requires up to 25% travel.    
Required Education and Experience:  Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Business or Education. 
Experience with both the practical and theoretical aspects of adult education.  At least five (5) years’ experience designing and developing management training programs including curriculum development and computer-assisted instruction.    
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:  Ability to speak/read/write in English.  Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Publisher and Project).  Proficient in using on-line learning authoring software such as Adobe Presenter, Articulate, Captivate or other.  Association for Training and Development (ATD) or Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) certification a plus. 
Security Clearance:  All employees are required to pass the fingerprint-based criminal history records check (CHRC) per 49CFR1542.209 and pre-employment drug screen.
