Directs and coordinates department activities for the overall operation of aircraft maintenance both scheduled and unscheduled. Ensures aircraft are maintained in accordance with company policies, federal air regulations, maintenance programs and FAA regulations. Reviews and analyzes reports, records, and directives, and confers with supervisors to obtain data required for planning department activities, such as new commitments, status of work in progress, and problems encountered. Assigns, or delegates responsibility for, specified work or functional activities and disseminates policy. Gives work directions, resolves problems, and sets deadlines to ensure timely completion of work. Schedules manpower to accomplish the workload and ensure personnel are properly trained. Coordinates activities of department with related activities of other departments to ensure efficiency and economy. Monitors and analyzes costs and prepares budget. Prepares reports and records on department activities for upper management. Evaluates current procedures and practices for accomplishing department objectives to develop and implement improved procedures and practices. May initiate or authorize employee hire, promotion, transfer or apply corrective action when necessary. Evaluate performance, and develop goals and objectives for department as needed.
Ideal candidate will have strong managerial skills with the ability to manage management, non-management and contract labor work groups. Strong interpersonal, communication and PC skills are needed. Ability to handle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must be able to read, write, fluently speak and understand the English language. Ability to read, understand, explain, and enforce Company policies, procedures, and regulations. Must be able to review work product of assigned area(s) and recommend changes to improve productivity and efficiency. Must be able to prepare written instructions and reports. Must be able to learn PC applications and apply knowledge. When applicable, may be required to work rotating shifts, nights and weekends.
Education: College degree or equivalent experience required.
License: A valid Airframe & Powerplant License and Driver's License are required.
Experience: Two years aircraft maintenance experience at a supervisory level or higher. Previous experience in a union environment; supervisory experience in a union environment desired. Knowledge of budgeting policies and procedures. EMBand CRJ aircraft experience preferred.
