Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Support the Director Terminal Infrastructure in ensuring that all people moving devices within the Airport and Terminal Facilities (active terminals, parking structures, Automated People Movers (APM) and its stations) is available and operating at optimal standards. Lead the maintenance and lifecycle these systems and to provide guidance, leadership and coaching to all direct reports to deliver the highest level of service to all customers and guests.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities:

* Through various contracts perform optimum life cycle management and technical performance of the people moving devices including but not restricted to the following; Automated People Mover (APM), Elevators, Escalators, Powerwalks, High Speed Express Walkways

* Provide technical support for the rapid response to maintenance or operational issues related to the above areas

* Management and oversight of all contracts associated with moving devices and associated mechanical systems

* Establish, manage and provide oversight for the annual OPEX budget

* Establish in cooperation with Engineering a five-year restoration program

* Develop strong customer/stakeholder relationships to facilitate the strong working relationships with the internal clients and external customers

* Compliance with applicable health and safety and company policies, rules and regulations

* Regulatory, Environmental, Safety and security compliance as they relate to moving systems and participate in audits as required

* Analyze system performance and collaboratively develops strategies for improvement

* Lead a well-managed maintenance team for the people moving device systems within budget and aligned to the Strategic Plan

* Plan, recruit, coach and mentor direct reports and work with the contractors to develop a team which will support and emulate the values of the corporation

* Develop expectations of performance and standards of excellence, audit work performance, ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies and procedures

* Support People and Human Resources in conducting labour relations in a fair and consistent manner while providing insight and participate as required in negotiations, grievances and arbitration

* Manage the various moving device contracts directly related to providing services in accordance to the GTAA’s strategic, operational and fiscal needs / objectives

* Work with the various contractors to resolve complex technical problems that may arise in relation to moving device systems

* Ensure the systems are compliant with relevant standards and codes including ASCE 21, B44, NFPA, National Building Code and the National Fire Code

* Review financial and other supporting KPI data to measure performance of the various systems and identify work program improvements and implement changes as required to achieve performance targets

* Support design and construction projects intended to expand and/or restore the mechanical systems and moving devices

* Provide practical insight and assist Technical Services or the various contractors relating to the moving device’s Asset Management Program

* Lead by example behaviours that foster a culture of collaboration, innovation and customer service

* Establish or approve contractor’s departmental policies, processes and procedures, including development of degraded modes of operations (i.e., need for contingency during break/fix operations) standard operating procedures, operations plans and training

* In conjunction with the Operational Performance Manager, negotiate with suppliers and contractors to create optimal service level agreements

* Research emerging technologies and industry best practice, providing recommendations

* Represents the GTAA on various technical forums related to moving devices

* Perform other reasonable duties and responsibilities as necessary

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

* Completed Engineering Degree in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Education from an accredited University

* Strong transportation or Industry experience (aviation, transportation, etc.)

* 5yrs+ experience managing direct reports including hiring, performance management ideally in a unionized environment

* Must be able to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

* Innovative leader with a proven track record of creative and leading edge solutions

* Proven relationship management skills with internal and external stakeholders with demonstrated ability to influence, collaborate and negotiate cross functionally in a unionized environment, as well as with external stakeholders to achieve results with diplomacy and tact

* Demonstrate skills and experience developing and delivering presentations on highly technical information to a varied audience

* Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

* Experienced with Microsoft Office suite products such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

* Excellent relationship building and negotiating skills
