Summary/Objective:  
The Manager, Safety Compliance and Emergency Response, is responsible for maintaining all Sun Country Airlines operational control for the Hazardous Materials Program, Emergency Response, OSHA, and other safety compliance programs. This position has primary job responsibility for safety compliance throughout the company in regards to all levels of safety risk management.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Act as Emergency Response Program subject matter expert and Assist the Director of Safety and Security in managing the company Emergency Response Program.
  • Develop and update the Emergency Response company documentation (manuals, checklists, station and vendor contacts and information)
  • Train company personnel on the Emergency Response program and conduct quarterly drills/practice
  • Act as Hazardous Materials Program subject matter expert and assist the Director of Safety and Security in managing the company Hazardous Materials Program
  • Develop the Hazardous Materials company documentation including manuals, signage and hot topics
  • Monitor and support the Hazardous Materials programs, day-to-day operations, and concerns for compliance
  • Maintain and analyze data gathered within the safety reporting database and communicate findings to all affected departments (including hazards, irregularities, undeclared hazardous materials and weapons)
  • Notify repair vendors of will not carry certification and document response
  • Review company Hazardous Materials training materials annually
  • Complete and maintain company Hazardous Waste Annual Reports
  • Assist the Director of Safety and Security with Safety Investigations
  • Act as safety auditor for Internal Evaluation Program (IEP) by documenting and communicating audit results
  • Conduct multiple audits including high risk areas of operations including on-site auditing of operations for Dangerous Good compliance
  • Issue Corrective Action Plans when appropriate for IEP audits
  • Assist the Director of Safety and Security with managing the company OSHA policies
  • Act as key point of contact and communication between the department and all industry regulatory bodies which include but are not limited to FAA, TSA, DoD, NTSB and OSHA.
  • Manage, verify and monitor national/international regulatory requirements and permits to ensure compliance; (Emergency Response, Hazardous Material, SMS and IOSA standards)
  • Attend Industry meetings/conference as well as work collaboratively with other company managers, FAA, NTSB, OSHA and various industry resources.
  • Assist the Director of Safety and Security as required in all company initiatives
  • Conduct all tasks in a safe and efficient manner complying with all local, state, and federal safety and health regulatory requirements, programmatic standards, and with any internal policies and procedures identified by Sun Country Airlines
  • On Call 24/7 required
  • Travel 25% required
  • Other duties as required

Required Education and Experience:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Dangerous Goods/Hazardous Materials experience required.
  • Emergency Response experience preferred
  • Airline industry experience required.
  • Must be a highly motivated self starter able to perform and communicate effectively within a multitasking environment.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, problem solving skills.
  • Must be computer literate (Microsoft applications) and able to use or quickly learn enterprise applications.
  • Data collection and management experience (preferred).
  • Qualified candidate must pass a criminal history background check
  • Conduct all tasks in a safe and efficient manner complying with all local, state and federal safety and health regulatory requirements, programmatic standards, and with any internal policies and procedures identified by Sun Country Airlines
