UTC Aerospace Systems (UTAS) is one of the world’s largest suppliers of technologically advanced aerospace and defense products. ISR & Space Systems is a business unit within UTAS and our products reside in deep space, low earth orbit, undersea and on the ground. We are also a major supplier to international space programs. The ISR & Space Systems business has contributed to significant advances in ground, air, space and imaging technology for over 85 years. Within ISR & Space Systems we design and manufacture Environmental Control and Life Support Systems on the International Space Station, including the space suit, and undersea in submarines. We are now looking for highly motivated and technically sound individuals to join us as a Materials Engineer.
Responsibilities are varied in this flexible group environment. The successful candidate will interact with engineers across functions to select design and manufacturing applications for materials selection and processing for aerospace and DOD products. Activities include recommending materials and processes, writing specifications, ensuring compliance of materials with internal, customer, and environmental requirements, review supplier designs, provide input to and review of engineering drawings, conduct failure investigations, write reports, develop and conduct test plans for mechanical and corrosion properties of materials, and support the disposition of materials with quality questions.
1-3 years of aerospace experience or equivalent.
2+ years of aerospace experience or equivalent.
* The position requires interfacing with internal and external customers as well as suppliers, strong organizational and communication skills, and safe lab working practices.
* A working knowledge of requirements for space flight hardware is required.

Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Metallurgy, Materials Engineering, or Chemical Engineering with MS preferred.
