Performs limited mechanical maintenance on a variety of aircraft / engines. Assists the A & P Mechanics in the investigation and troubleshooting of aircraft problems.
Maintains and services aircraft under close supervision of Crew Chief or A & P Mechanics. Performs normally required servicing and maintenance under supervision of Crew Chief or A & P Mechanics.
Dismantles major components, removes all inspection plates, control surfaces, fairing, cowlings, and fillets. Disassembles and assembles major aircraft components under close supervision.
Assists A & P Mechanics in obtaining information and data from technical instruction, work orders, technical orders, blueprints, maintenance manuals, inspection of aircraft, observation of engines, flight instruments, auxiliary power units and test equipment. Accomplishes work as instructed by a Leadman or A & P Mechanic.
Uses mechanic’s hand tools, precision measuring instruments, gauges, test equipment, aircraft jacks, hoists, work platforms, dollies, and tow bars.
Complies with all safety, environmental and general housekeeping practices.
Keeps work area clean and neat.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Have a mechanical/technical work history.
Troubleshoot A/C systems and problems.
Work with hand and power tools.
Must be able to:
Walk, climb, stretch, bend and crawl. Work in tight, confined places and reach to work on areas within the aircraft / engine which are difficult to access.
See to disassemble and visually inspect. Hear to detect the sources of problems and must be able to manipulate hand and power tools.
Work outside in extremes of temperature and inclement weather.
Speak and write clearly to communicate and document to status of maintenance.
Lift up to 75 pounds.
