Job Description

The Manager-HR Business Partner-Pilot Recruiting reports to the VP-People Department and the VP-Flight Operations and is responsible for setting the overall strategy for pilot hiring and the recruitment plan for ExpressJet Airlines.  Job Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Develop creative and innovative recruitment solutions to attract quality pilots.
  • Develop recruitment strategy for various industry specific organizations and career fairs.
  • Develop recruitment strategy with outside facilities such as Universities/Colleges and vocational institutions.
  • Assist with pilot interviewing, testing and hiring.
  • Oversight of the development and data tracking tools on hiring and recruitment efforts.
  • Liaison between ExpressJet and partnering carriers' recruitment teams.
  • Devise, manage and evaluate recruitment and selection processes including such things as psychometric tests, interviews, personality questionnaires and other appropriate activities.
  • Train recruiting staff on the appropriate interviewing techniques.
  • Ensure all pilot hiring and recruitment manuals remain current.
  • Assist with the development of pilot recruitment media and materials.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with Flight Operations and the People Department to anticipate hiring and staffing needs.
  • Oversight and liaison for the AP3 (Airline Pilot Pathway Program), EPIC (ExpressJet Pilots Inspiring Careers) and partnering carriers' flow through programs.
  • Visit and foster relationships with those Universities/Colleges and Flight Academies.
  • Write job advertisements and manage job-posting advertisements through multiple sources.
  • Remain up to date on current labor contracts and negotiations as it relates to pilots.
  • Ensure compliance with all state/federal employment laws, EEOC guidelines, and Company policies.
  • Speak with large groups of students and applicants.


  • Previous Pilot recruiting experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Aviation Management or equivalent experience.
  • Previous supervisory and/or management experience.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and analytical skills both written and verbal.
  • Strong public speaking skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and be detailed oriented.
  • Advanced proficiency and working knowledge of MS Office Applications, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access.
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality.
  • Possess a valid Passport and a valid United States Driver's License.
  • Ability to travel frequently.


  • Master's degree in Business, Human Resources, Aviation Management or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years Human Resources experience.
  • Previous experience with Employee and Labor Relations.
