Position Description

The Non Destructive Testing (NDT) Inspector for StandardAero at the Los Angeles International Airport shall ensure required Non Destructive Testing is completed accurately, and in a timely manner, in accordance with applicable manufacturer’s requirements and/or ASNT standards. The NDT inspector shall be certified Level II by either NAS410 or ASNT standards for Eddy Current Inspection and either be certified, or be willing to develop certifications for MT, PT, and UT, to Level II.
NDT Inspector shall coordinate with department inspection crew chief and production personnel to properly prioritize current and incoming work to ensure on time delivery schedules to internal and external customers.
The NDT Inspector strives to uphold organizational values by always working within the ethical guidelines established by the company. Exhibits sound and accurate judgment. Explains the reasoning for your decisions and includes the appropriate people in the decision making process. Offers assistance and support to co-workers and actively strives to resolve conflicts when they arise. The NDT Inspector advocates and promotes company policies that include but are not limited to product safety issues, safe work practices, OSHA, EPA, Federal, State, and Local policies/regulations. Reports potentially unsafe conditions to a Crew Chief and/or a Senior Inspector if needed.
Position Requirements

•High School Graduate
•5-Years Non Destructive Testing experience
•Certified Level II by either NAS410 or ASNT standards for Eddy Current Inspection
•Pass StandardAero company Level II standards testing
•IAW FAR Part 65 read, write, and understand, the English language
•Work towards ASNT Level II certifications in PT, MT, and UT, if not previously certificated.
•Able to meet StandardAero and Los Angeles World Airport background checks and badging criteria
•Be available to train off site to develop other inspection and NDT certifications
•Be available for periodic road trips to accomplish NDT inspections on customer product. This is typically a one or two day event.
•Be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time to perform inspections
•Be able to lift up to 50 lbs for approximately 20% of the average work day.
•Ensures the functional and acceptable status of the non-destructive test equipment in accordance with the appropriate company process.
•Determines the acceptance of parts and components for surface condition in preparation for the non-destructive test process.
•Performs the specific non-destructive test process as identified in the shop order work instruction.
•Processes the part(s) in accordance with the appropriate company process.
•Inspects and interprets the test results.
•Marks all unacceptable discontinuities for location and dimension.
•Documents the completion and test results of non-destructive test process.
•Ensures parts are cleaned following completion of NDT process and in acceptable condition for further processing.
•Performs equipment and material maintenance checks in accordance with the appropriate company process.
•Maintains records of all maintenance performed on the non-destructive test equipment and materials.
•Liaisons with engineering, inspection and other personnel as required to assist in researching and solving non-destructive test process problems.
•Maintains personal qualifications as stated in the appropriate company process.
•Participates in continuous improvement of cell processes.
•Cross trains in other complementary skills and seeks endorsements for those skills as needed to support production requirements.
•Moves between production assignments that utilize multiple skills endorsements as needed to support production requirements.
•Participates in the cross training of other technicians as needed to support production requirements.
•Knowledgeable in and understanding of inherent and non-inherent discontinuities found in materials.
•Knowledgeable in the requirements and methods of handling materials processed at StandardAero.
•Complies with all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), Quality Procedures (QPs), and Local Work Instructions.
•Monitors work in progress to ensure proper paperwork, procedures, techniques, and methods as prescribed by maintenance manuals, overhaul manuals, approved engineering documents, and other FAA approved data are used.
•Documents inspection results in inspection paperwork and log books.
•Computer skills in Microsoft Office programs, with experience in developing detailed NDT reports. Working knowledge of production management computer system and other related internal control systems. Proficient in technical writing.
•Pass Jaeger Eye Test.
•Carries out other duties as assigned.
