Job Summary

Works on difficult assignments and follows written or verbal instructions. Troubleshoots production issues. Works with management and engineering to improve processes and methods resulting in increased efficiency, accuracy and yields. Works on new product implementation and assists engineering in the development of new processes. Involved in the design, manufacture, assembly and modification of tooling.

Performs a variety of duties necessary to construct electrical assemblies, modules, and circuit boards within a team environment.

Job Responsibilities

* Proficiently operates and sets up conventional and/or CNC optics fabrication machinery. Highly skilled in advance optical techniques such as CNC programming, hand figuring aspheres and high precision lapping. Properly loads and unloads optics from machines and evaluates tool wear and performance. Makes corrections and adjustments on machines to achieve compliant optical surfaces. Cleans optics after completing operations and prepares them for the next operation.
* Highly skilled in the inspection of performed work using inspection equipment such as test plates, calipers, micrometers, spherometers, profilometers and interferometers.
* Performs a variety of highly complex electronic tasks following Rockwell Collins workmanship standards. Assigns work priorities and adjusts allocation of production resources a the request of area production manager.
* Following/reading blueprints, wiring schematics, written work instructions and verbal instructions assembles electronic subassemblies, top assemblies and complete multiple assemblies.
* Required to use hand tools and power tools to assemble and rework a variety of parts/assemblies and perform required assembly/rework operations to meet quality standards. Soldering may be required for some positions. May be required to perform equipment repairs/troubleshooting, tool program troubleshooting and PM tasks.
* Inspects own work and may inspect the work of electronic Assembler 1on mechanical assemblies to insure a quality product which conforms to workmanship standards and engineering requirements.
* Required to enter time in FIT timekeeping system, charging time to programs being worked and time/attendance.
* Regular and reliable attendance is required as well as flexibility to support production schedule requiring working overtime hours and alternate shift hours.
* Work in a safe manner, per Rockwell Collins Environmental Health and Safety policies.
* Responsible for various SAP transactions to record operations. May also be utilizing various computing systems in managing work area inventory, demand and output.
* Understands and demonstrates Lean principals/practices. Applies Lean electronic principals and tools to accomplish tasks. Mentors team members in Lean Electronic principals and achieve continuous improvement through area value streams. Partners with leadership/support staff in Lean events. Proactively engages in and supports value stream mapping events to improve quality, schedule and cost.
* Responsible for inventory and schedule of production output, service parts and engineering development products.
* Demonstrates personal accountability for success of assigned area(s) and show personal leadership in facilitating the team achieving their goals.
* Trains train lower level electronic Assemblers in assemble techniques.
* May be required to perform additional duties/responsibilities.
