Principal Scientist R&D - Signal Processing

Honeywell Aerospace Advanced Technology has an exciting opportunity for a Staff Scientist to work as part of a larger technical team developing Radar and Satellite Communication systems. Honeywell Aerospace currently has an opening for a Senior Systems /Signal Processing Engineer to work in our SATCOM and RF group within the Communication, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS) department of the Honeywell Aerospace Advanced Technology organization. The successful candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary global team including professionals from the United States, the European Union and Asia with backgrounds in avionics and CNS systems R&D. Our team conducts research and development in SATCOM and RF concepts and technologies.

Conduct project activities including development of advanced signal processing for Radar or SATCOM, Software / HW tradeoffs, prototype hardware, software / firmware integration, and prototype flight testing including data collection, algorithm development / evaluation and overall system performance evaluation

Coordinate with US, Europe and Asia Pacific-based scientists, marketing and product managers and executives to plan and execute SATCOM/Radar technology research, early product development, and concept demonstration initiatives

Establish professional relationships with external partners and potential customers in support of joint project partnerships and external R&D funding

Communicate project status on a regular basis to US management and external partners

Author scientific proposals, patents and papers

As a subject matter expert, advise engineering, product marketing, and mergers and acquisitions on state of the art technology concepts Signal Processing methods and HW components

YOU MUST HAVE

* Masters of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Radar, Physics, Communication, Radar or SATCOM signal processing
* 8 years’ experience with Radio Frequency (RF / Microwave / Millimeter Wave) Communications, Navigation and/or Radar waveform design and/or signal processing in FPGAs / MPSoC devices
* 8 years’ experience with Microwave / Millimeter Wave / FPGA / MPSoC hardware integration and troubleshooting
* 8 years’ experience writing Matlab, C / C++, Embedded Software, FPGA / MPSoC ARM Core and Fabric Code
* 8 years’ experience with one or more Phased Array Radar / SATCOM beam steering, beam forming, angle and range tracking applications, Direction of Arrival, Super Resolution (MUSIC, etc), or STAP

WE VALUE

* Experience with Radar Target tracking with Monopulse processing
* Experience with Phased Array Radar / SATCOM signal processing methods
* FMCW Radar or FMCW Phased Array Radar Experience
* FMCW Radar Waveform Optimization
* Experience with Polarimetric Radar Signal Processing / Algorithms
* Experience with Intel (Altera) or Xilinx FPGA / MPSoC in Radar or SATCOM
* Experience with Firmware or Software control of DDS, RF synthesizers, SPI or I2C bus Control & Programming
* Experience with VHDL, Vivado, C++, Matlab, Linux tools
* Ability to perform systems/HW concept development, architecture design, trade studies, requirements analysis and flow down in support of new concepts of operations
* Experience working on government R&D projects from DARPA, DOD, NASA; Homeland Security; or classified U.S. government agencies
