Lean/Six Sigma green belt certification or higher preferred.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelors degree in engineering or a related curriculum. Advanced degree in engineering or related curriculum preferred. 13 years of broad engineering experience in several technical disciplines with a Bachelors Degree. Experience credit considered for related advance degrees limited to 2 years for Masters Degree and 4 years for PhD in fields applicable to this job.
Works with engineering, operations and procurement in a team environment on development programs ensuring aspects of the designs, test articles and supplied/manufactured articles are capable of being produced in accordance with approved quality system requirements and certified as compliant to aircraft type design requirements.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions: 1. Responsible for driving design quality assurance on development programs and actively participating in new product design and development, design validation/verification, design reviews (including PDR, CDR and test readiness reviews), risk management, planning, flight test and design changes. 2. Partners with design engineers and assist in resolving major quality initiatives/projects and executing design, development, and design transfer initiatives including design/process quality capability analysis, enhanced supplier selection, requirements incorporation validation and maintain regulatory compliance in accordance with FAA (14 CFR Part 21) and relevant guidance documents. 3. Works under consultative direction; uses independent judgment to accomplish objectives. 4. May travel to suppliers to engage in requirements definition discussions and process capability assessments. 5. Participates in the Change Review Board (CRB) process and ensure design modifications or updates meet all quality requirements. 6. Partners with Manufacturing Engineers to develop/validate manufacturing processes and provide technical quality support for process planning. 7. Assures that appropriate risk management tools (i.e. FMEAs) are utilized for all programs and projects, as appropriate. 8. Assesses the root cause of, and determine the responsibility and corrective/preventive action for products or materials that may not meet required standards and specifications. 9. Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and making recommendations. 10. Provides status updates to various management forums specific to individual projects. 11. Assists and performs training to procedural and quality system changes.
Other Requirements: 1. Must possess understanding of and experience with key design characteristics definition, FMEA, statistics theory and application (SPC). 2. Maintains an up to date knowledge in the areas of Quality Assurance, Regulatory Compliance, Design Controls, Risk Management, and/or Statistical Techniques. 3. Competencies include: Design control, project management and people skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong multi-task and situational management, strong interpersonal skills, excellent computer skills, system management, risk management, and strong results orientation. 4. Familiar with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T) 5. Practical knowledge of state-of-the-art quality engineering/assurance techniques, procedures, instruments, equipment, theories, principles and concepts. 6. Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical documents, Engineering drawings and 3D models. 7. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. 8. Capable of working closely with RD&E, Manufacturing and Operations regarding active product quality planning (APQP) through the use of quality control plans and product & process FMEA tools.
