Position Description

Responsible for the operation of a recognized production or manufacturing department, such as an assembly or fabrication group. Within a broad scope of responsibility, maintains production schedules and quality of work. Responsible for planning, assigning duties, and training hourly employees. Responsible for employee development and annual performance reviews.

Reviews work orders, production specifications, technical instructions and facility requirements, tool requisition, equipment and supplies for the department. Selects or assists in the selection of personnel for employment, promotion, transfer, or discharge. Responsibilities may include multi-shift operation within the manufacturing unit. Will work with other shift supervisors as required. Reviews and compiles operations records for management. Manage departmental performance measures, including visual controls and provides regular progress reports to management.

Routinely interfaces with Production Control/Planning and other manufacturing department supervisors for purposes of setting, maintaining, and modifying production schedules. Also works closely with Manufacturing Engineers in developing or improving existing procedures. Represents the department at Production Meetings. Participates in creating and modifying production schedules to meet customer demands. Responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping.

Manages service returns, ensuring timely response to customer requests. Manages root cause/corrective action efforts with product and production lines issues. Prepare operations material and present it to customers as required.

Review and maintain departmental budget, including capital equipment budget

Participates in creating and modifying procedures, processes and methods.

Other related duties as assigned.
