Job Description:

This salaried position has primary responsibility for building and leading the Hawker Aircraft Maintenance Program at our East Alton, Illinois facility (ALN) and serving as the primary point-of-contact to manage all aspects of Hawker aircraft maintenance, repair and delivery.

Duties will include P&L accountability for meeting or exceeding all financial, people, quality, safety and customer objectives for the Hawker Program. with managing and dispatching a team of leads and technicians to work on various aircraft located across the United States, or internationally.  The working hours are generally Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm; and will vary based on business demands such as attending dinner with customers, early or late aircraft departures, etc.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Work independently, exercise discretion and independent judgment to manage the customer needs and aircraft projects in line with company standards.
  • Identify, recommend and capture growth opportunities to develop the Hawker program to include expanding our services and meeting the customers future business needs.
  • Develop and maintain mutually beneficial customer relationships along with applicable vendors; may need to travel for annual or regional aviation events or trade shows in support of the Hawker Program
  • Travel as necessary with Sales to make Hawker Program presentations to key customers.
  • Hire, train and develop aircraft maintenance technicians to perform work in accordance with WSA maintenance standard operating procedures along with quality and safety standards to ensure technicians can be cross utilized on other aircraft maintenance programs, when/if needed.
  • Develop an on-call / after hours process to ensure sufficient rotation of assignments between technicians.
  • Develop and maintain aircraft schedules from pre-planning, to aircraft delivery and follow-up.
  • Participate in customer meetings providing maintenance status updates on aircraft in work.
  • Manpower planning duties to include assigning technicians to maintenance tasks based on work to be accomplished and technician skill level, identify and prepare a recovery plan to address any potential risks, schedule changes or any other constraints.
  • Review material purchases, billing invoices and labor charges regularly.
  • Perform normal people management tasks such as reviewing and approving time off requests, labor charges and expense reports; conducting annual performance appraisals; providing regular coaching for performance and team developmental opportunities, plus general employment matters such as hiring, firing, disciplinary issues, promotions, work schedules and overtime assignments.
  • Maintain and update our technical capabilities and identify technical training opportunities.
  • Develop mutual business relationships which foster effective communication across the WSA team which includes Sales, Contracts, Project Management, Aircraft Maintenance, Avionics, Interiors, Paint, Engineering and Quality plus Leads and Technicians to expeditiously and safely meet the needs of the customer.
  • Communicate regularly with Billing to review, approve, and sign all final invoices.
  • Communicate, coordinate, and follow-up as needed for Accounting, HR, IT, EHS and Purchasing support for the Hawker Program.
  • Ensure all work is performed of the highest technical level and in accordance with WSA maintenance SOP’s, repair station manual, safety and quality standards.
  • Encourage and promote a safe work environment to include proper use of all PPE, operation of support equipment, aircraft systems and general housekeeping.

Job Expectations:

  • The Program Manager will be a key contact both internally and externally; a high level of professionalism, technical knowledge and organization is required.
  • The Program Manager will be responsible for continual improvement of the end product provided to our customers, including quality, performance and on-time delivery.
  • The Program Manager must be accessible outside of normal business hours, especially during the holidays and other peak times.

Job Requirements:
EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant license is required
  • Hawker Aircraft Maintenance, Engine Run & Taxi or Avionics factory training is required.
  • Bachelors degree is preferred, but not required

EXPERIENCE

  • At least 10 years prior experience working on a variety of Hawker corporate jets and systems as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician.
  • At least 5 years in a team lead, crew chief or supervisory role.
  • Excellent knowledge of FAA requirements, work orders and the customer billing process is required.
  • Extensive customer service experience is required.
  • Prior experience as a Maintenance Supervisor or Manager, Customer Support or Project Manager is strongly preferred.
