In your role you will:

* Decompose customer requirements pertaining to reliability, availability, maintainability and safety (RAMS)

* Support Bids and Proposal activities, generating bid responses and estimating work packages for RAMS analysis activities

* Respond to bid responses for Reach, RoHS, WEEE, product disposal, as well as other standards pertaining to hazardous materials in various countries, working in co-operation with Materials Engineering and Environmental Health and Safety

* Define the RAMS requirements for each project in conjunction with the Lead Systems Engineer

* Review vendor documentation and challenge supplier analyses

* Produce preliminary sub-assembly reliability analysis and safety assessment in support of product development

* Participate in design reviews

* Perform the following analysis activities as part of the overall project verification and validation program:

- Reliability prediction (MTBF)

- Failure modes, effects, and criticality analysis (FMECA)

- Fault tree analysis (FTA)

- Hazard analysis

- Testability analysis

- Maintainability prediction

* Support safety assurance analysis for software and firmware designs

* Support the Product Safety Management Process by participation in Safety Committees

* Production of Safety Case Reports and System Safety Hazard Analysis on complex Integrated Systems Solutions spanning airborne, ground and maritime platforms, including integration of weapons management systems

* Support HALT and HASS efforts

* Work closely with ILS to help develop maintenance/support strategy, increase system availability and minimize life cycle cost

* Produce SRU reliability predictions in support of CSG/ILS sparing analyses

* Support the design change process by estimating and validating the RAMS impacts of each of the proposed changes; FRACAS and MRB activities

* Produce fielded reliability analyses, identifying failure trends and refurbishment recommendations in support of fielded customer programs

* Mentor junior employees

Qualifications

The ideal candidate would have the following qualifications:

* Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent

* Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience

* Relevant experience in reliability and product safety; preferably in the aerospace and/or defence industry

* Experience with Integrated Systems on Airborne, Ground and Marine platforms

* Working knowledge of MIL-STDs, MIL-HDBKs and DEF STANs related to RAMS (e.g. MIL-STD-882, DEF STAN 00-56, MIL-HDBK-217, etc)

* Familiarity with Electrical/electronic circuit analysis

* Familiarity with electro-mechanical motion control equipment

* Familiarity with electro-optic imaging equipment

* Familiarity with ANSI and FDA standards related to laser classification and safety

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills

* Working knowledge of the following software tools: DOORS, Windchill, MatLab and MS Office Suite
