Description

Position Overview:

The Senior Administrator, Contract Flight, In-Flight & TWU is responsible for administering collective bargaining agreements for HA Pilots, Flight Attendants, and Dispatchers. This position serves as Subject Matter Expert on these contracts and handles all related grievances. The position reports to the Vice President of Employee and Labor Relations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as HA's primary expert on contract terms regarding the management of contract employees in Flight, In-Flight and Dispatch Departments. Ensure compliance with terms and conditions of contracts.
  • Support Employee & Labor Relations lead with negotiation strategy and execution; Provide recommendations on contract revisions and modifications
  • Administer all grievances for assigned contracts. Serve in the capacity of hearing officer or Company representative at personnel-related hearings; prepare cases for these hearings
  • Serve as a member of the Company’s negotiating team as a SME. Take and maintain negotiating notes. Provide guidance/assistance on contract change implementation.
  • Work with internal and external legal counsel on arbitrations and the preparation of legal briefs
  • Collaborate with department managers, personnel managers and HR Business Partners to identify trends, root causes of recurring problems and solutions to addresses issues
  • Partner with Union Representatives to identify employee/employer related issues; negotiate solutions, write decisions or prepare cases to resolve issues and/or grievances.
  • Gather data and generate periodic reports regarding grievances, perform root-cause analyses, and present recommendations to improve relations between the company and employees
  • Develop and conduct grievance training for managers and supervisors involving contract interpretation, intent and application
  • Ensure seniority list is maintained in accordance with the CBA
  • Keep abreast of industry arbitrations and collective bargaining contracts to assess industry trends
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Juris doctorate
  • Seven years of experience working in labor relations and/or managing complex union contracts
  • Proven negotiation and/or contract management skills
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work at all levels within the Company from front line to upper management
  • Excellent organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Airline experience negotiating or administering collective bargaining agreements
  • Proven experience administering collective bargaining agreements
  • Negotiation experience under the National Railway Labor Act
  • Experience in preparing and presenting cases for grievances and arbitrations
  • Experience in financial planning, analysis and developing financial models.
