American Airlines, Inc. has multiple openings for a Senior Business Systems Analyst to perform the following duties: As part of the IT Enterprise Portfolio Management (ITEPM) team, responsible for understanding business strategy concepts and ensuring IT is delivering at an enterprise level against stated business objectives with a focus on enterprise portfolio and funding strategy, reporting /insights, standardization of the program management discipline as well as support for the corporate health of the overall IT organization. Serving as product owner for project management reporting tools used to provide visibility to what business value is being delivered, coordinate the progress against IT’s strategic objectives and partnering with enterprise business leads and IT Finance as related to setting enterprise priorities and capital planning trade-offs. Develop and document system requirements to enhance Planview and/or other enterprise portfolio management tools to meet or exceed operational needs/goals in the IT Project/Program Manager community and IT Finance. Collaborate with business unit leads to prioritize work based on business value. Responsible for the IT Enterprise roadmap and backlog of requested IT work; understanding the inter-relatedness of AA’s core systems to quickly identify issues and risks inherent in managing a cross-enterprise roadmap. Leverage competitive benchmarking to identify and discover new opportunities as related to tools in the ITEPM space and how processes can be more agile at the Enterprise level. Analyze data in Planview and other systems to determine direction for portfolio team, identify trends and stay abreast of industry direction for portfolio management. Communicate with stakeholders and the Project Performance Team that delivers the technology used for portfolio management. Evaluate, scope, and execute any new tools to be implemented in the IT Community to support portfolio and program management. Research, analyze and interpret data and trends in the industry for how to inject agility at the Enterprise business/budget/funding process level and recommend solutions with understanding of how Agile works at the project level.
Bachelor’s degree business administration, management, tourism/hospitality management or a related field plus 3 years of experience in the job offered or developing strategies for delivering web-based or other IT systems and solutions, and demonstrated experience in: Systems Thinking; Design Thinking; Process and Product Mapping; Business Needs Analysis; Agile Program Management; Planview; Rally; Business Case Development and Recommendations; Enterprise Capital Planning and Forecasting support; Enterprise Innovation Strategy – specifically Experiments tracking and monitoring; Executive Communications Support; Product Communications support; Dreamweaver; Turnaround Strategy Analysis; Ability to evaluate business needs and translate what is technically feasible to non-technical individuals; Strong understanding of systems business logic and how core systems interact with each other, including Sabre or other Global Distribution systems, ITA, eTDS, Common Services and related applications in testing and production environments; Aligning IT with business strategy in the commercial airline industry; Serving as part of an Agile team.
Work Schedule: 40 hours per week/8 a.m.-5 p.m./M-F.
