Summary/Objective:   The Senior Director of Ground Operations has overall responsibility and authority over the airline’s ground operations for all below-wing activities. Responsibilities included within the below-wing operation are training, compliance, oversight, cleaning and MSP hub operations including the responsibility for the Airport Operations Center (AOC). The Sr. Director of Ground Operations must have full understanding of aviation safety standards and safe operating practices. As the senior leader of ground operations, this position will develop organization strategy and goals to support the company’s business objective.This position will also work closely with the Senior Director Customer Experience and Airport Affairs to ensure that the highest degree of performance is attained for the passenger experience. Sr. Director Ground Operations will be responsible for on-time performance, regulatory compliance and the safety performance within the ground operations organization.This position will work with other operational team leaders to evaluate and enhance ground operations process, training and oversight to drive to a repeatable outcome.

1. Responsible for the overall policies for all under wing operations. Ensures ground operations manuals provide the level of detail to ensure repeatable processes.
2. Drive change through the organization by utilizing a data driven approach to process improvement and operational excellence.
3. Provide clear goals, defining core competencies and feedback for the ground operations leadership team.
4. Sets the strategic goals for the ground operations team and effectively communicates those goals.
5. Responsible for the training and oversight of the ground operations organization. Develop strategies with respect to oversight to ensure defined processes and training is effective.
6. Works closely with the Customer Experience team at the airports to ensure passenger expectations are being met.

1.  Works well with teams, both within the ground operations team and the other operational and customer experience teams.
2. Act as a change agent into the organization with the focus of repeatable processes.
3. Possesses strong management skills that can drive an organization to meet its strategic goals.
4. Embrace the “just-culture” safety philosophy. 

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Five years experience in airline ground operations organization or equivalent industry focused on repeatable processes.
  • Conduct all tasks in a safe and efficient manner complying with all local, state and federal safety and health regulatory requirements, programmatic standards, and with any internal policies and procedures identified by Sun Country Airlines.
  • Qualified candidates must pass a criminal history background check and pre-employment drug test.

Preferred Education and Experience:  
 
  • Industrial Engineering degree
