Key Responsibilities

Lead the design and delivery of a new model of HR service delivery

  • Design and secure approval for a more effective, efficient model for delivering HR services to the organization.
  • Lead the build out of the selected model, setting the overall HR services strategy for the next 3 years with a focus on quality, cost-control, compliance and timeliness. 
  • Set a vision for the creation of self-service content and the centralization of employee and manager questions and requests through the HR service center.
  • Manage a diverse team that is collectively responsible for payroll, the HR service center and help desk, HR systems (including HRIS) and reporting.  Manage both managers and high-level individual contributors.
  • Drive the team’s annual goal setting process & the development of a HR service delivery dashboard and performance metrics.
  • Develop service agreements and standards for internal customers within HR and external customers in the operation an eye towards elevating the level of customer service HR provides.
  • Lead the continuous improvement process for HR service delivery ensuring the rapid development of documentation and process maps and the migration of manual processes onto current HR systems.

Lead the strategy for HR Systems

  • Lead the strategy for HR’s systems architecture and data architecture.  Ensure the HR team adheres to that vision consistently across various HR systems. Service as the lead relationship manager with the IT Service Delivery team that support HR. 
  • Evaluate the overall effectiveness of HR’s systems and set a vision for system enhancements, improvements and efficiencies as well as major system upgrades or replacements.  Ensure that the selection of new or replacement HR systems is aligned to this vision.
  • Manage the development and reprioritization of a 3-year roadmap of HR’s technology priorities, including the facilitation of HR leaders to reach shared decisions about HR’s technology priorities.
  • Provide high level oversight for relationships with all HR system vendors, ensuring the creation of and adherence to service level agreements (SLAs) and contract terms.
  • Ensure the team maintains complete and accurate documentation for HR systems, including a data dictionary, a catalog of system customizations and updated statements of work about internal and external file feeds.
  • Establish policies and procedures that provide for the confidentiality, accuracy, security and timely maintenance of HR data and reports.

Manage critical organizational relationships

  • Work closely with the Legal team on the maintenance of HR and employment policies.
  • Work closely with the Finance team to ensure SOX compliance and accurate reporting tied to Officer compensation and labor expenditures.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 10 years’ progressively responsible experience in HR operations including experience building out an HR service model, such as shared services
  • 5 years’ experience managing teams and managing managers
  • Demonstrated success leading the implementation of an HRIS or major HRIS upgrade
  • Demonstrated experience setting and delivering against a vision for sustained system and process improvements in operations with high attention to detail
  • Exceptional project management abilities
  • Strong cross-functional leadership abilities combined with an analytical mindset
  • Strong emotional intelligence, integrity, and pride in delivering HR services
  • Ability to persuade, influence and inspire others
  • Ability to use good judgment and make good decisions that consider the needs of all stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in directly related field, such as Human Resources, Business or Policy and Planning
  • Experience managing an HR Shared Services function for a publicly traded company with a unionized work environment
  • Familiarity with the airline industry
  • Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification
  • Certified Payroll professional and/or Senior Professional in Human Resources certifications
