Boeing South Carolina is seeking an Equipment Engineer (Level 4) to be a part of our Equipment Engineering and Reliability Team within the Facilities & Asset Management organization.

This position is located in North Charleston, South Carolina. This position may occasionally require off-shift, weekend, and/or holiday activities.

This team is responsible for the specification, procurement, installation, and life-cycle sustainment of production equipment supporting the 787 Dreamliner Program, 737 MAX Program, and Boeing Research & Technology Center of Excellence. This position will lead efforts to ensure world-class equipment availability for our production partners through data-driven improvements to people, parts, and processes; lead others with a reliability centered maintenance mindset; and use expert knowledge of equipment design, operation, and controls to guide decisions affecting various aspects of the production system.

Primary Responsibilities

*

Review operating condition of existing production equipment using data and observation with the purpose of defining improvement projects to increase efficiency of people, parts, and processes.

*

Develop and deliver learning plans to increase the knowledge and skill of other engineers and maintenance teammates.

*

Develop systems, processes, and tools to ensure world class machine availability.

*

Develop complex and or unique specifications, conceptual and final designs, cost estimates and provide support for the procurement, maintenance and / or modification of equipment systems (e.g., multi axis machine tools, autoclaves, and automated systems).

*

Coach and guide others to align specifications and/or designs with customer requirements, codes and applicable regulations by applying knowledge of process engineering, materials procurement practices, and Industry Standards.

*

Perform moderately complex analysis to determine the causes of asset failures and reduction in asset capacity by using reliability tools and methods (e.g., life cycle analysis, condition based maintenance, root cause failure methodology, mean time between failures, fault tree analysis, etc.).

*

Facilitate the implementation of moderately complex improvements in asset effectiveness, availability, and maintainability to specify configuration of new assets in order to support reliability programs.

*

Determine and support technician training/skills improvement. Assure resource readiness (personnel, materials, tools, schedule, etc.).

*

Use industry standard project management best practices to guide project execution and communicate with various stakeholders.

Qualifications

Typical Education / Experience
Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Basic Qualifications (Required)

*

More than 5 years of experience in the commissioning of new equipment

*

More than 5 years of experience with developing sustaining maintenance programs

*

More than 5 years of experience in equipment maintenance and reliability engineering

*

Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action involving equipment

*

Experience training operators, maintenance personnel and others to correctly operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment

Additional Requirements

*

This is a variable shift position. Qualified candidates must be willing and able to work any shift, to include days, nights, and weekends.

*

Must be willing to travel for training and development provided by the Company.

*

Must be able to respond to critical production down time situations affecting manufacturing operations.

Preferred Qualifications

*

More than 5 years of experience with troubleshooting, repairing, and improving multi-axes equipment

*

Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically in composite manufacturing and/or aerospace
