  • Manage assigned category grouping (i.e. Commercial/Corporate Services or Operations), including the talent acquisition, talent development, and ongoing management of Category Managers
  • Support Category Manager direct reports in the design and implementation of strategies for their assigned categories
  • Design and implement strategies for categories in which there is direct responsibility
  • Work across the Hawaiian Airlines supply chain to ensure that supplier partnerships are effectively integrated and meeting performance expectations
  • Perform spend analysis by category, supplier, and commodity area, and leverage findings to drive category strategies
  • Develop a sufficient understanding of category business users and business models to effectively represent Hawaiian Airlines in the market
  • Perform market research of relevant business models, suppliers, products, and services
  • Manage the RFx process for all supplier bidding processes 
  • Develop business cases for supplier partnerships in conjunction with internal customers
  • Develop supplier performance management models and implement 
  • Develop negotiation strategies, and then prepare for and lead supplier negotiations
  • Draft and modify supplier contracts based on negotiated outcomes 
  • Drive Category Management standards and best practices in individual categories as defined by the Senior Director, Category Management
  • In conjunction with the Senior Director, Category Management, design and implement an initiatives status and metrics reporting program for assigned category grouping to provide performance transparency to the organization

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelors degree 
  • 5 years professional experience in Strategic Sourcing or Supply Chain 
  • 3-5 years management experience 
  • Ability to recruit and develop talent 
  • Ability to prioritize and delegate work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment 
  • Strong analytical skills coupled with the ability to work with all types of data
  • Keen ability to solve complex financial and non-financial challenges, and to develop detailed business cases to drive effective change
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Visio or equivalent tools, as well as online research tools (e.g. Google)
  • Demonstrated negotiation successes on large, high-spend corporate partnership commercial engagements
  • Strong ability to review legal contractual terms and conditions, in order to negotiate optimal levels of risk for the enterprise

Preferred Requirements

  • Understanding of the “Aloha Spirit” and the basic elements of Hawaii’s unique culture
  • Airline industry experience, particularly working for a commercial carrier 
  • CPM or equivalent certification
