Job Description

  • Manage teams comprised of 17-25 analysts, engineers and managers.
  • Lead technical quality assurance efforts in support of BTD’s projects and programs according to defined best practices, standards and procedures.
  • Provide technical guidance and governance for test automation, performance test, test tools and in-house developed test utilities.
  • Develop and maintain test automation standards and processes and manage quality improvement activities in collaboration with and under the guidance of the QMO.
  • Demo, perform POC’s and select test tools to support test activities across the IT organization.
  • Innovate and drive adoption of test automation methodologies across the enterprise.
  • Provide automation status reports for test progress review to project management.
  • Lead continuous improvement of automation of functional and performance test processes and methodologies.
  • Design and plan testing strategies that appropriately address risks and issues for the supported projects.
  • Establish expectations of deliverables for staff.
  • Resolve complex technical and/or specialized issues.
  • Understand key performance drivers, business trends, and emerging technical and industry developments.
  • Develop people by encouraging individuals to think for themselves and take responsibility for their contributions to the team.
  • Delegate work successfully and ensure completion in time of all test related activities.
  • Maintain cooperative relationships with other engagement teams.
  • Capable of handling complex personnel issues.
  • Coach, counsel, and develop employees in accordance with the company’s performance management process.
  • Ensure continuous learning of airline business flow, use and interdependencies of data and products.

Job Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in CS/CE/CIS/MIS/Engineering/Technology a related field or equivalent experience and or training
  • 10+ years of experience in software testing/Quality Assurance (QA)
  • 5+ years of experience with at least one testing tools (TFS, HP Tools, SOA Tooling, Etc.)
  • Advanced test automation techniques and best practices
  • Strong understanding of performance test methodologies and best practices
  • Hands on experience architecting and developing test automation solutions
  • Strong technical skills including: Development practices, Coding, Software Architecture, Databases, Networking, Etc.
  • Hands on experience with performance test techniques, planning and scripting
  • In-depth knowledge of application architecture and design
  • Advanced understanding of Quality Management and “best practices” with regard to testing techniques, methodologies, processes, tools, artifacts, and measurement
  • Using previous skills and knowledge provide technology leadership in areas such as SQL queries, UNIX, Web Services and Web App testing etc.
  • Familiarity with programming languages (C#, Java, Oracle SQL and PL/SQL, UNIX shells)

Job Qualifications (Continued)

  • Experience with various test automation frameworks such as Business Process Testing (BPT), Keyword-Driven, Non-GUI applications, Etc.
  • Thorough knowledge of various development methodologies including Agile/Scrum, Waterfall and other iterative methodologies
  • Knowledge and experience with various test plan architectures
  • Experience building best in class technical test teams
  • Advanced abilities with use of reference materials and other resources to complete tasks
  • Advanced skill with Microsoft Office software
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively facilitate meetings
  • Ability to effectively meet deadlines and prioritize projects in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment
  • Strong customer service focus
  • Strong software analysis skills
  • Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Airline experience - a plus
