Are you looking for an opportunity to learn a new skill that is in demand almost everywhere in the US in an interesting and challenging environment? Our team is looking for a self-motivated, confident individual to work with our product classification team in Cedar Rapids, IA. This is a key position to set the foundation for the export and import of the company’s products and information.
The Product Classification Specialist establishes the foundational information needed to Export and Import Rockwell Collins products. The commodity code, legal control, and country of origin determination is their primary function. This is done through investigating drawings, manuals, intranet searches, and discussions with engineering. This individual will be required to interpret U.S. export and import regulations and successfully apply that information to drawings and specifications to ensure products are correctly classified. This position has the responsibility for carrying out daily activities related to product classification. A high level of communication, time management, technical, and organizational skills are needed in the product classification process and are used on a daily basis for contacting various internal and external resources.This individual will also work with the team to help gain consistency for interpreting the regulations and how they apply to Rockwell Collins products.
This individual will operate with a significant amount of independence. This individual may also be required to develop electronic solutions to support the enterprise need for classification of RCI products. Decisions will have a direct impact on financial results.
This position requires a strong working knowledge of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR – 22 CFR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR – 15 CFR); and the individual must possess the ability to translate those regulations into advice and subsequent actions pertaining to product classification matters. This position requires a general understanding of the Customs Regulations (19 CFR), Food & Drug Regulations (FDA – 21 CFR), Federal Communications Commission (FCC – 47 CFR), Alcohol, Tobacco Products and Firearms (ATF – 27 CFR) Regulations as they relate to import and/or export activity.
* Bachelor’s degree in appropriate discipline or in the absence of a degree six years of related experience
* US Citizenship is required
* Candidate must have the ability to obtain a US DoD Security Clearance.
* Engineering or technical education and experience is required.
* A technical background or the ability to interpret product drawings and technical specifications in order to apply the correct classification.
