Moog Aircraft Group in Torrance is looking for a Senior level Project Engineer to be an integral part of our engineering team delivering highly complex electro-mechanical, mechanical, and hydro-mechanical components and systems for flight actuation applications to our Military Sector customers. A Project Engineer at Moog provides technical leadership and makes authoritative decisions for advanced development programs that provide some of the industry’s most sought-after flight actuation components and systems on next generation aircraft for the Military Aircraft Sector. What you’ll be working on day to day:

* Be the primary motivator and a contributor to the analysis, conceptual design, development, and testing of complex flight actuation control hardware used on military vehicles and equipment
* Oversee validation of system and/or component performance and integration, and coordinate the work of engineers and technicians who assist in specific assignments
* Guide the evolution of the conceptual design, and serve as focal point for customer communications
* Manage all aspects of technical project planning, including designs, proposals, cost estimates, schedules and technical interface meetings
* Represent Moog as a recognized technical authority and project leader
* Communicate fluently to a wide variety of audiences, both internal and external
* Prepare, organize and make presentations to customers in support of design reviews and technical interface meetings
* Contribute to the development of new product requirements through consulting with customers and sales personnel
* Guide the evolution of conceptual design, technical project planning, detail design, and development testing throughout the program lifecycle
* Support programs with some travel (5-10%) and the participation in presentations to customers
* Represent Moog in a manner consistent with its leading-edge technical reputation
* Coordinate qualification of new products through a comprehensive development test program
* Document designs, analyses, and test results with accurate and concise reports
* Communicate project status with clear and effective reports and presentations

What you’ll need to bring with you:

* BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering; MS is preferred
* 6+ years of design and development engineering experience
* 6+ years of project/team leadership experience
* Self-starter with strong organizational skills and a desire for constant improvement
* Depth of understanding and experience in the design, analysis and development of complex hydro-mechanical and electro-mechanical systems
* Team-oriented, with the desire to participate in and contribute to a high functioning team
