Job Description

 The Boeing Company has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Engineer (Level 5) to join our Missile Defense National Team B located in Colorado Springs, CO.


The Missile Defense National Team B provides technical solutions to the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Command, Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) program. C2BMC is the integrating element for the Ballistic Missile Defense System and links various sensors and weapon systems. The system provides capabilities to integrate and synchronize missile defense systems and operations, providing a layered defense against multiple ranges of threats and in all phases of flight. 

The Project Engineer will have the responsibility to work with the C2BMC Leadership Team to manage, coordinate, and oversee the cross Functional Area efforts associated with deployment changes, contract proposals and Mods.

 

The Project Engineer will support the planning and execution of technical scope, schedule, and cost inputs for changes, ECPs and other customer engineering estimate requests. This individual will support development of Deployment IMS objective evidence, the collection of IMS status accounting, and lead the execution of plans and procedures associated with assigned C2BMC Mod development including developing BOEs, and will support cross spiral de-confliction, cross Functional Area coordination, and schedule/resource issue resolution.

 

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills: 

  • Experience leading and managing cross functional teams in the development lifecycle, integration of distributed real-time software systems, and deployment execution activities
  • Demonstrated experience in performing CAM role in a large, complex Development program.
  • Practiced in identifying IMS forecast and baseline changes via schedule change requests, "what-if" schedules, critical paths and network logic.
  • Knowledge and experience with MDNT/BC processes and procedures.
  • Understanding Ballistic Missile Defense concepts, Battle Management and Command and Control (BM/C2) systems, defense communications systems, and the BMDS.

Tasks will include supporting all cost & schedule management weekly, monthly and associated business operations meetings and business rhythms. 

This position requires candidate acceptance by industry partner resource control board.

 

Occasional travel will be required for this position.

Qualifications 

Basic Qualifications:

 

  • This position requires an active (or the ability to obtain) U.S. Security Clearance, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • This position requires a current SECRET CLEARANCE (or higher level).
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher education.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a project engineering role.
  • Experience as a CAM (cost account manager) in EVM (earned value management).

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Artemis Project View, RTE and Microsoft Project, rolling waves, and EVM (Earned Value Management) cost baselining and reporting.
  • Development Lifecycle, Test, IMS Development, EVM, Artemis, wInsight, MS Project, RTE, MS Office suite.
  • Strong communication skills and customer interaction. 
  • Prior experience leading a large development organization.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Leadership experience developing and managing project teams and project schedules, planning, cost and EVMS.
  • Experience in all levels of Development Lifecycle (Engineering, Development, Test) and knowledge of C2BMC spiral execution.
  • Knowledge of the overall C2BMC architecture design and functionality.
  • Proven leadership experience with full life cycle software development on large, integrated DoD systems, including requirements development and interpretation, software design, implementation and test, fielding and maintenance.

 

 

Typical Education and Experience:  Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's 14 or more years' experience, Master's with 12 or more years' experience or PhD with 9 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
