Job Description

Boeing Training Systems and Government Services, located in St. Louis, Missouri, is seeking a Software Engineer to work in a highly dynamic environment developing an effects-based real-time pilot-in-the-loop simulation for US Air Force F-22 and Virtual Warfare Center (VWC) customers.

 

The qualified Software Engineer will serve as the F-22 Advanced Simulation Toolset (FAST) Team Lead entrusted with leading product architecture development, system design, implementation of current roadmap functionality, and exploration of future capabilities.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaboration with various customers to:
    • Shape requirements
    • Define technical work scope
    • Develop proposals and estimates
    • Monitor cost and schedule performance
    • Conduct product testing and verification
    • Report progress
    • Resolve programmatic issues
    • Support customer driven events
  • Serve as the Team Product Owner responsible for prioritizing software backlog and leading daily standup meetings.
  • Seek out funding sources
  • Perform project management
  • Prioritize team activities
  • Coordinate cost and schedule commitments in order to successfully support 4-6 customer driven events per year in the VWC
  • Be an advocate for new business and a sponsor for the incorporation of enhanced capabilities into the F-22 platform.

Qualifications 

Basic Qualifications:

Experience in following areas:

  • Leadership
  • Project Management
  • Avionics capabilities and interfaces and modeling of the same
  • Guided munitions capabilities and interfaces and modeling of the same
  • Link-16 networks and message formats and protocols, Link-16 signal simulators
  • ClearCase, Linux, MS Visual Studio, VersionOne
  • C, C++, OpenGL programming languages, Qt user interface framework, Perl, GLStudio
  • Threat definitions and capabilities and modeling of the same
  • Knowledge of DMO, DIS Protocols, and IEEE SISO standards
  • Embedded software development experience

This position requires an active (or ability to obtain) U.S. Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.  This particular position REQUIRES A CURRENT SECRET CLEARANCE. 

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Agile, Kanban & Lean
  • Real-time operating systems and development of real-time software
  • Product Owner and/or Scrum Master experience is a plus 
  • Automated testing, and/or continuous integration is a plus 

Typical Education/Experience:

 

Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
