Delta Air Lines, Inc. requires an SAP Basis Lead with SAP Cloud/Infrastructure experience to work in a high paced, dynamic environment. This position will provide technical leadership to the application teams and will serve as subject matter expert in the design, implementation, and support of critical SAP HCM systems on Cloud. The candidate must demonstrate expert skills in cloud infrastructure, cloud services, SAP Basis, change management, upgrades, patching and software logistics to ensure smooth and efficient operation of production, development, QA and supporting environments. This resource will be the subject matter expert in the setup and tuning of systems that will push the boundaries for scale, availability, and performance, while maintaining the highest standards for security and operational excellence.

Provide technical leadership to the application teams for new development, enhancements and ongoing maintenance of the Delta Air Lines Cloud-based SAP HCM system landscape
Effectively manage SAP Basis Administration, HANA, Sybase, and the overall SAP cloud integration
Monitor performance of cloud resources for the SAP HCM landscape while implementing solutions as required to optimize performance
Provide guidance on SAP best practices as it relates to both the implementation and ongoing operations of an enterprise cloud-based SAP landscape
Review the current systems and provide a vision for a future state architecture that leverages cloud technologies and platforms and provides for instant scalability when needed
Configure and develop PI/PO (Process Integration / Orchestration) interfaces using various adapters
Establish PI Connectivity with various Application Systems like ECC, CRM and 3rd parties and configure and monitor PI alerts in Solution Manager
Collaborate with many teams including networking, security, middleware, and development and operations support groups to efficiently and effectively deliver operational excellence
Collaborate with other Delta IT groups in order to solve technical issues. Establishes and monitors escalation of problems
Design, develop and manage project planning and execution for major activities such as software upgrades, software configuration changes and hardware upgrade or replacement
Analyze impact of the application related OSS notes / patches / support package recommendations
Recommend appropriate application-related patches / notes / service packages
Implement recommendations and test (e.g., SAP Kernel, Support Pack Stack, etc.)
Serve as a lead integrator to the functional business teams for technical services provided by the Basis team, client infrastructure provider, and vendors/other service providers
Work with development teams in support of application performance tuning and troubleshooting
Partner with Change and Release Management to ensure a stable operating environment during any transitions and changes
Enable automated monitoring and health checks into the system and be the driving force to define the standards and implement the solutions required to minimize manual administrator involvement
Ensure all processes are in compliance with Delta's policies and procedures, including SOX, PCI, and data retention processes
Serve as a mentor to other team members and provide technical guidance to the management team


-Minimum 8+ years of continuous, technical hands-on SAP BASIS administration experience
-5 years of experience working as a Basis Lead in a Large scale enterprise SAP environment
-2 years of experience working in a cloud-hosted SAP infrastructure landscape
-2 years of experience with BSI Tax Factory upgrades, applying Cyclic updates and Tax Locator files
-Hands on experience managing a complex multi-tier global landscape, where all applications are part of the transport system
-Exemplary troubleshooting and ability to drive root cause analysis on incidents and problems. Must be able to expertly orchestrate SAP infrastructure assessments
-Excellent working knowledge of ITIL/ITSM service management practices, specifically incident management, change management and problem management
-Understand and be fluent in the entire SDLC for SAP upgrades and enhancement pack implementations
-Must have experience with upgrades in a critical, 24/7, high availability, and highly enhanced SAP environment
-Ability to build partnerships with technical team members across the organization
-Solid foundational knowledge in server, networking, archiving, security and storage disciplines
-Demonstrated excellent customer service skills; ability to build strong formal and informal relationships
-Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to transition smoothly between technical and business vernacular, tailoring communications to the audience
