Job Description

The Boeing Company has an exciting opportunity for a C2BMC Senior Security Systems Engineer (Level 4) to join our Missile Defense National Team B in Colorado Springs, CO.

 

The Missile Defense National Team B provides technical solutions to the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Command, Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) program. C2BMC is the integrating element for the Ballistic Missile Defense System and links various sensors and weapon systems. The system provides capabilities to integrate and synchronize missile defense systems and operations, providing a layered defense against multiple ranges of threats and in all phases of flight.

The C2BMC Senior Security Systems Engineer is responsible for overseeing the development of the C2BMC system to ensure that the developed system realize the architecture and requirements.

 

The SSE will participate in the engineering boards (PERB, AWG, NIRP, EOL/EOS) as the Cyber security SME. The SSE will guide the development of Cyber security products. Documenting lessons learned, best security engineering practices, and industry standards will be required in daily tasks.

This position requires candidate acceptance by industry partner resource control board.

Qualifications 

Basic Qualifications:

  

  • This position requires an active (or the ability to obtain) U.S. Security Clearance, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.

  • This position requires a CURRENT SECRET CLEARANCE

  • DoD 8570 certification at IAT Level III or higher (such as CISSP, CASP, CE, CISA, GCED, or GCIH) 

  • Requires a Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.

  • Must have experience working in Systems Engineering

Preferred Skills:

 

The ideal Candidate would bring the following skills, experience and/or attributes: 

  • Analyze design constraints, trade-offs, and detailed system and security designs to identify necessary lifecycle support.
  • Apply security policies to applications that interface with one another.
  • Assess the effectiveness of information protection measures utilized by system(s).
  • Assess threats to and vulnerabilities of computer system(s) to develop a security risk profile.
  • Build, test, and modify product prototypes using working or theoretical models.
  • Conduct assessments of the applications security design for the appropriate security controls, which protect the confidentiality and integrity Information.
  • Integrate information assurance (IA) or IA-enabled products.
  • Design and develop secure interface specifications between interconnected systems.
  • Design, develop, integrate, and update system security measures (including policies and requirements) that provide confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, and non-repudiation.
  • Design hardware, operating systems, and software applications to adequately address information assurance (IA) security requirements.
  • Design or integrate appropriate data backup capabilities into overall system designs, and ensure appropriate technical and procedural processes exist for secure system backups and protected storage of backup data.
  • Design to minimum security requirements to ensure requirements are met for all systems and/or applications.
  • Develop architectures or system components consistent with technical specifications.
  • Develop detailed security design documentation for component and interface specifications to support system design and development.
  • Analyze information to determine, recommend, and plan the development of a new application or modification of an existing application.
  • Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints. 

Technical Skills: 

  • Access authentication methods.
  • Encryption algorithms (e.g., Internet Protocol Security [IPSEC], Advanced Encryption Standard [AES], Generic Routing Encapsulation [GRE], Internet Key Exchange[IKE], Message Digest Algorithm [MD5], Secure Hash Algorithm [SHA], Triple Data Encryption Standard [3DES]).
  • Cryptology.
  • Database systems.
  • Enterprise information security architecture. 
    Evaluation and validation requirements. 
    Understanding how system components are installed, integrated, and optimized. 
    Information assurance (IA) principles and requirements that are relevant to confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, and non-repudiation. 
    Information security systems engineering principles. 
    Network protocols (e.g., Transmission Control Protocol and Internet Protocol [TCP/IP], Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol [DHCP]) and directory services (e.g., Domain Name System [DNS]). 
    Operating systems.

 

Education and Experience: Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
