The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Development Mission Systems (MS) Architecture and Integration Organization is seeking a highly qualified Senior Software Engineer who will perform as the project lead and architect for International Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS).
The Architecture Team is responsible for defining and managing the system architecture required for AWACS programs. Members of the team include specialists in the areas of Datalinks, Mission Computing Hardware and Software, Radar systems, Electronic Support Measures (ESM), and Satcom.
Responsibilities for this position include providing detailed technical leadership for the project development activity for all phases (requirements, design, development, and integration/test) including leading the architecture and requirements teams with a strong customer focus.
The selected candidate will support the Product Team Manager in the following areas:
The position requires working with foreign customers and export controls. The engineer will travel to Kent, Washington (up to 50% of time) the first six months for knowledge transfer and interface directly with Airborne Surveillance, Command and Control (ASC2) management and the existing 4045 development team including Program SEIT and all support organizations. The engineer will also develop a good level of understanding of the AWACS concept of operations (CONOPS), 4045 architecture and system capabilities and 4045 program execution processes.
The successful candidate will develop a fundamental understanding of all team execution and development processes including: customer knowledge, ASC2 management, MS Development, Supplier Management, Program SEIT, supplier knowledge, Boeing manufacturing knowledge, and business processes.

This position requires an active (or ability to obtain) U.S. Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.
Other requirements are an understanding of Linux/Unix/Solaris and Windows Operating Systems and experience in development of real-time embedded software.
Travel will be required 50% of the time for first 6 months (during training phase) then 10% thereafter.
Bachelor's 14 or more years' experience, Master's with 12 or more years' experience or PhD with 9 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
