Purpose of position:

To ensure Maintenance meets the production required for the Operational needs of the company in a safe and cost-effective manner utilizing company procedures and industry best practices.

Description:

*

Using the Corporate and Division strategic plans, work with the Supervisory & Maintenance staff to implement the plans for the base.

*

Provide frontline leadership and motivation to all Direct Reports.

*

Provide guidance and direction to all Direct Reports, including Supervisor(s), Crew Chief(s) and Maintenance Staff on matters related to maintenance activities.

*

Maintain corporate support systems such as attendance management program, personnel training etc.

*

Coaching, mentoring and imposing applicable corrective action of supervisory & maintenance Staff.

*

Work with the local Labor Relations to ensure contract guidelines are followed.

*

Work with supervisory & maintenance staff to maintain production targets.

*

Follow the annual base budget and update the budget as required for changes in the business plan.

*

Assume manager's duties in his/her absence.

*

Hold direct reports accountable for Corporate policies and Company manuals.

* Other related duties as assigned.

*

Perform duties in accordance with established policies and procedures while giving primary consideration to personal safety, the safety of co-workers and customers.

Qualifications:

* A recognized post-secondary aviation related degree or diploma is an asset.

*

Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineers License.

*

Minimum 6 years in aircraft maintenance with at least 2 years of experience in Management.

*

Strong skills in production management including administration, priority setting, process improvement and benchmarking for best practices.

*

Demonstrated ability to define, develop, implement, and utilize metrics appropriate to area of responsibility including basic knowledge of appropriate measurements and statistics.

*

Demonstrated ability to use common management software including excel, outlook, word and powerpoint.

*

Budgeting and Fiscal Management skills.

*

Sound knowledge of Airline operations including Safety and Regulatory requirements.

*

Sound technical knowledge with the ability to recognize safety deficiencies and able to take immediate action in response.

*

Knowledge of SMS and applicable regulations relate to airline maintenance, airworthiness employee safety, labour and environmental issues.
