Become part of the growing Government Systems Communication Products Organization! As a Senior Systems Engineer (Safety), you will help design and develop communication products covering all spectrum bands, across multiple airborne and ground platforms. You will work with customers, engineering management, program management, engineering teams, production, business support groups, and subcontractors to create solutions addressing both domestic and international customer needs. Additionally, you will play an important role in developing the next generation of both networking and non-networking software defined radio waveforms for existing and new communication platforms.
We are seeking individuals with the technical skills and personal leadership attributes to help enhance communications systems development through the application safety engineering assessment procedures. The successful candidate will participate in all phases of the product lifecycle for our communication products, utilizing safety methodologies as they apply in our systems engineering processes.
This position is located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, or may be based out of one of our other U.S. locations.
Candidates must have the following skills:
Must possess or be eligible for obtaining and maintaining a U.S. DOD Secret Clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements.
Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline
Understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle, with knowledge of how to apply safety engineering techniques
Demonstrated experience in the following:
Application of system safety assessment techniques in the design of safety-critical products
Fault tree analysis and the use of fault tree tools
Reliability engineering reports and primary factors for generating safety assessments
Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact and build trust with team members from many different backgrounds, including engineering management, engineering teams, program management, business development, support groups, and subcontractors
Preferred experience and skills include:
Knowledge of MIL-STD-882E (DoD System Safety Standard Practice) and SAE ARP 4761 (Civil Aviation Safety Assessment Guidelines / Methods)
Prior experience applying MIL-STD-882E and/or SAE ARP 4761 System Safety assessment techniques in the design of safety-critical products, preferably for military end-users.
Familiarity with change management and requirements management tools
