Overview:

This position will be responsible for assisting with the tax provision, tax accounting, and income tax compliance functions of the Atlas/Southern/Titan/Polar operations.

Responsibilities:

* Assist in the preparation of quarterly and year-end income tax provisions and resulting SEC tax documents, including: effective tax rate reconciliation, tax footnotes, and disclosure statements
* Assist in quarterly and year-end SOX compliance
* Assist in tax research regarding technical issues and tax planning opportunities
* Assist in tax accounting for all balance sheet and income statement accounts that impact tax
* Assist in preparation of federal consolidated tax return using OneSource software
* Assist with preparation of state income and franchise tax returns and workpapers
* Assist with all federal, state, and foreign tax examinations and inquiries
* Assist with preparation of foreign information reporting on federal consolidated return, including: Form 5471, Form 8858, Form 8865,
* Analyze revenue, property, payroll, and flight log information for state apportionment purposes
* Review flight log information to ensure proper state registrations are obtained and maintained on quarterly basis
* Assist with resolution of other domestic and foreign tax issues, including response to inquiries, preparation of calculations and workpapers for purposes of settlement, technical tax research and analysis, and preparation of technical tax memoranda.
* Assist with tax planning and tax due diligence for mergers and acquisitions under consideration
* Evaluate tax treaties and quantify the impact on Atlas’ foreign operations
* Advise on issues which arise in the day-to-day operations
* Participate in special projects as requested

Qualifications:

* Good organization and communication skills, both written and oral
* 3-5 years experience consisting of a combination of public accounting and/or strong private tax experience in both income tax provision and income tax compliance
* Familiarity with corporate federal income tax concepts and structure of federal tax laws
* Familiarity with ASC 740, FASB statements and other guidance relevant to the tax accounting function
* Independent self-starter who doesn’t require close supervision
* Tax research and technical skills a must
* Able to work under tight deadlines and make decisions quickly
* Strong computer and excel skills
* Proficient with computer based tax research software
* Able to communicate ideas to manager and willingness to partner in the tax area to continue to increase responsibilities
* CPA and masters of tax and/or accounting desirable
* Airline experience desirable
