Position
Sheet Metal Worker (Armstrong)

Description

Astronics Armstrong Aerospace is looking for a Sheet Metal Worker to join our team. A successful candidate will have the ability to read drawings and blueprints, operate manual and pneumatic rivet tools, laser machine, press-break, mark parts with ink stamp and work with aerospace standard fasteners and hardware.

Position Requirements

The essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Select drawings and verify revision levels before commencing work.

*

Interpret mechanical drawings to properly assemble product within specifications.

*

Select parts and set up work station.

*

Assemble mechanical components (ie: sheet metal and fasteners) per drawing specifications.

*

Operate manual and pneumatic rivet tools

*

Hand Squeeze / Pneumatic Squeeze / Pneumatic Rivet Gun / Rivet Press

*

Operate Laser Machine

*

Operate Press-Break

*

Understand rivet installation standard procedures and specifications

*

Mark parts with ink stamp

*

Count, organize, and stock parts

*

Work with aerospace standard fasteners and hardware

*

NAS/MS Spec hardware / Hilocks / Solid Rivets / Blind Rivets / Bushings / Bearings

* Understanding of fixturing and clamping associated with assembly/riveting
*

Use of standard hand tools

*

Hand Drill / Drill Press / Hydraulic Press

*

Unit of measure familiarization for inches and feet.

*

Update the correct pick sheet with a signature, the date picked, and the correct lot# for any items picked in the manufacturing area.

*

Sign production router and work orders for tasks accomplished.

* This position may require knowledge of SOX / 404 internal audit controls and related documentation.

Education and/or Experience

Required:

* High school diploma or equivalent
* Ability to read and interpret mechanical and sheet metal drawings
* Ability to understand sheet metal fabrication and assembly standard procedures

Preferred:

* Technical aptitude in mechanical assembly
* Experience in the aerospace industry
* A&P Mechanic License
* Trade School or Associates Degree in metal fabrication or similar
