Job Description

Overview:

  • The Boeing Research & Technology Avionics Systems Technology team is chartered with providing innovative avionics system technologies and engineering expertise to our partners within Boeing, making those programs more competitive.   
  • As a member of the BR&T team, the candidate will be responsible for supporting the assessment and development of state-of-the-art technology to support Corporate Wide Program needs. 

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate will have the opportunity to participate in multiple application software development specialties, including embedded software development, graphical user interface development, database structure design, modeling and simulation. 
  • The candidate will apply knowledge of engineering principles and concepts to support the design, development, test, and peer review of component and system level software. 
  • This position will: 
    • Assist with the development, documentation and maintenance of architectures, requirements, algorithms, and interfaces. 
    • Integrate software components into fully functional software systems. 
    • Assist with the generation of test procedures and documentation of test results to ensure software system requirements are met. 
    • Follow established processes and procedures. 
  • Additional tasking will include supporting the identification of areas for potential industry influence, making recommendations for technology investments, participating in technology road mapping exercises and helping shape future customer and industry requirements. 
  • This position will work under general supervision.

Qualifications 

Basic Qualifications (Requirements):

  • This position requires an active (or ability to obtain) U.S. Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. 
  • Self-motivated Software Engineer to support real-time software applications. 

Assets (Preferred):

  • Real-time embedded software development using VxWorks Arinc 653.
  • Ethernet networks, MIL-STD-1553, ARINC-429, PowerPC computer architecture, VME, VPX, PCI, and PCIe bus standards and operation.
  • Development on Linux and Windows platforms.
  • Familiarity with Integrated Avionics Systems.
  • Visual Studio C, C++, C#, Java, Qt, Matlab/Simulink.
  • Agile software development principles.

 

Typical Education/Experience:

Level 3:

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 5 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
