Job Description

The Boeing Company has an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer (Level 3) to join our dynamic team in Colorado Springs, CO.

 

As a Software Engineer (Level 3), the successful candidate will work with a team of software engineers to develop, document, and maintain software systems in a multi-discipline UNIX environment.

 

The role and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Developing and maintaining code, and integration of software components into a fully functional software application.
  • Leads development of software verification plans, test procedures and test environments.
  • Provides technical support for software project and software management activities.
  • Development, selection, and deployment of processes, tools, and metrics
  • Tracks and evaluates software requirements and performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards.
  • Support training and mentoring others.

Technical Skills include:

  • Development in a UNIX environment using FORTRAN, C, Python as well as UNIX Shell & Expect scripting.
  • Knowledge of Oracle DBs, source control tools (Perforce) and Ruby would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of Commercial or General Aviation flight planning is a plus.
  • Jeppensen Flight Plan conducting acceptance, regression, and snapshot testing and/or analysis on the fully configured JPE development environment for the software repairs / modifications and/or enhancements

Qualifications 

Typical Education/Experience:  Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 5 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
  • Experience in C++ programming
  • Programming experience with FORTRAN
  • 1 or more years of experience working in a UNIX environment

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of Oracle DBs, source control tools (Perforce) and Ruby would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of Commercial or General Aviation flight planning is a plus.
