Overview:

JOB SUMMARY:

The Sourcing Engineer is responsible for supplier assessment and development in addition to assisting the Commodity Leads and Procurement Agents on RFQ, FAI, ECN, NCR, cost reduction and new part design.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  1. Assess supplier capability and risk as per the defined supplier assessment process
  2. Drive supplier development to meet the defined expectations of capability, risk mitigation, and overall performance by working together with Commodity Leads and Procurement Agents
  3. Assist Commodity Leads and Procurement Agents in RFQ and negotiation process
  4. Assist Commodity Leads and Procurement Agents in overseeing supplier submission of FAI and on-time approval
  5. Facilitate resolution of suppliers’ engineering issues, and communication and implementation of Engineering Change at the suppliers’ side, by working with internal engineering team and supply chain team
  6. Facilitate and assist resolution of supplier quality issue, NCR/DMR, etc.
  7. Collect supply market intelligence of material, finish, manufacturing technology and drive the design optimization and reduction in cost
  8. Collaborate with internal supply chain team on other issues or tasks with aims to drive for continuous enhancement of supply chain efficiency and productivity
  9. Visit the supplier facilities either domestic or overseas when needed.

Qualifications:

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  1. Bachelor's degree in engineering related disciplines.
  2. Five (5) years of experience
  3. Outstanding knowledge and experience of [machining/sheetmetal fabrication/injection molding plastics/thermoformed plastics] parts manufacturing processes and secondary processes.
  4. Proficiency in reading and understanding engineering drawings and engineering/quality documents.
  5. Experience in manufacturing engineer, process engineer, sourcing, supplier management, or supplier quality assurance in aerospace, medical, automobile, or any other manufacturing industry.
  6. Knowledge and experience in any QMS certification of ISO9001, QS9000, TS16949, TL9000, ISO13485, or AS9100.
  7. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  8. Strong organizational and problem solving skills.
  9. Advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office applications
  10. Knowledge in lean manufacturing, VA/VE, Kaizen, SPC, PPAP, FMEA, control plan, etc.
  11. Analytical, independent, forward looking, robust, inclusive.
  12. Capable to keep up performance under pressure of critical issues and demanding response time.
  13. Must have the ability to travel domestically and overseas.

 

PREFERRED:

  1. Experience in commercial aircraft interior products.
  2. Experience in electronics and injection molding plastics.
