Sr. Object-Oriented Programmer Analyst

Job Description

American Airlines, Inc. has multiple openings for a Sr. Database Engineer to perform the following duties: Responsible for designing and building Oracle RAC systems, administering , maintaining Oracle relational databases and assisting the application development teams in optimizing schema design and SQL statements. Perform daily administration of database systems to prevent outages and plans for optimized system resource utilization. Contribute to architectural direction and provide the expertise for design and performance of the database structures, assist with database performance tuning, database capacity issues, replication and other distributed data issues. Support production environment with flexible weekly rotating pager support will also be required. Create and implement physical database models from logical models. Handle Multi-terabyte, high transaction rate OLTP systems running. Designing, deploying and maintaining custom database monitoring tools. 

Job Qualifications

: Master’s degree (or equivalent) in computer science, information systems, or related field plus 3 years of experience in Oracle Database Administration and engineering,  plus demonstrated experience in: 11g/12c RAC builds, database installation, creation and upgrades, standby database, and object management; Oracle Exadata and PostgreSQL; Data Guard and Golden Gate,  SharePlex or other CDC/replication tools; Very large database version upgrades and server/platform migration; Advance Materialized Views and Pl*Sql Procedures; Performance analysis using ASH / AWR / OEM and Performance tuning & query refactoring; SQLT, TFA, OraChk, EXAChk, cluvfy, and analysis of OS Watcher data; Knowledge of: RHEL 6.x, Solaris 10 operating systems;  computer hardware:  SAN/NAS and networking; Oracle  SQL & Pl*SQL, Korn Shell, Perl Script, Toad/Sql*Developer, pgAdmin, SSH, Putty; and Airline industry. A bachelor’s + 5 years of progressive experience will be accepted in the alternative.


Work Schedule: 40 hours per week/8 a.m.-5 p.m./M-F.
