Position Description

Micro-Poise Measurement Systems a business unit of AMETEK is a capital equipment manufacturer of measurement production machinery for the tire and automotive industries. Micro-Poise is searching for a Sr Electrical/Electronics Hardware Engineer.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Electrical & Electronics/Electrical Engineering with 8+ years of position-related work experience with a strong background in Data Acquisition, PCB Layout, & Control Electronics Design of large and complex capital equipment.

This position will report directly to the Director of New Product Development and will be a team member of the New Product Development (NPD) engineering team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•Develop and maintain Data Acquisition & Control Electronics:
o Development includes mixed signal electronics
with several Analog Devices’ processors and
Lattice CPLD
o Analog, digital, & power circuit design,
schematic capture, and PCB layout
o Legacy maintenance including mixed signal
electronics with aged Intel-based processors
o Modern and legacy embedded firmware and
CPLD logic programming.
 -Assembly, C, and C++
 -VHDL and schematic based logic
programming

•Create and maintain technical documentation

•Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with existing equipment

•Provide technical support to help desk, field service technician staff, and customers

•Participate in design reviews to ensure optimal implementation of features and design through collaboration

•Work with Product Management to provide input to customer quotes

•Conduct cost and time estimation

•Ensure projects are completed and solutions implemented accurately, on time, and within budget

•Comply with safety procedures

•May require minimal travel to global customer locations to provide engineering & service support

Position Requirements

•Extensive skills and necessary experience to succeed in developing and maintaining Data Acquisition & Control Electronics including but not limited to the areas of:

oMixed signal electronics development with
several Analog Devices’ processors and Lattice
CPLD

oAnalog, digital, & power circuit design,
schematic capture, and PCB layout

oExtensive experience in the direction &
management of outside PCB-manufacturing
companies

oLegacy maintenance including mixed signal
electronics with aged Intel-based processors

oModern and legacy embedded firmware and
CPLD logic programming
 -Assembly, C, and C++.
 -VHDL and schematic based logic
programming

•Must be able to take complex design projects and effectively break down the work to create accurate schedules and engineering estimates.

•Must have ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines.

•Experience developing hardware and/or software in a team environment and knowledgeable using current versioning control systems and methodologies

•Strong concept communicator with the ability to:
oSolve complex problems
oLead advanced development projects
oAuthor software that other people can read and
understand
oGenerate detailed technical and design
specifications based on functional requirements

•Must be a self-starter, team player, work well with others, and have a positive attitude.

•Must be a creative thinker, results oriented, focused, and attentive to detail and accuracy.

•Technical writing and documentation skills.

•Designing for reliability and manufacturability

•Providing sustaining and lifecycle design support to operations team

•Exposure to site installation & commissioning; experience in start-up of machine and troubleshooting equipment breakdowns.

Desired Competencies & Experience:

•Distributed systems networking and communications over Ethernet. Industrial Ethernet, Profi-net, OPC, COM, .NET and SOAP

•PC-Based machine control using these programming languages.
oC#, C, and C++.
oBASIC (for test scripts) and Python.

•Analysis, development, testing and debugging of electronic industrial automation equipment

•Designing, testing, and debugging power & ground distributions in industrial automation panels

•Knowledge on electrical design and safety standards for industrial machinery - IEC, IEEE, NEMA, CE, etc.

•Candidate must be knowledgeable in the associated principles, industry standards, and industry practices for Electrical & Controls design of industrial machinery

•Proficiency in the English language with established written and verbal communication skills

•Limited amount of travel of a global basis may be required
