Job Summary

Rockwell Collins is currently seeking candidates for a Mechanical Engineering position for the design, development, and test of equipment and integration kits for communication systems on military aircraft and transportable platforms. The selected candidate will work closely with Systems, Software, Qualification, Manufacturing and Installation engineering staff to assure defined requirements are consistently met in all phases of a product’s lifecycle. This position is located in Richardson, Texas.

A DoD security clearance is required.

Job Responsibilities

Assignments are usually part of a larger engineering project including analysis of requirements, documentation of design, implementation, and integration of moderate to complex mechanical systems and components.

Provide direction to the team and other technical disciplines in the performance of sophisticated analyses. Has significant domain knowledge of department products and systems. Serve as a hardware architect to plan, analyze, design, test, and document hardware of high complexity and contribute to system integration.

Act as a mentor to engineers in additional areas including domain knowledge and lessons learned. Lead preparation of proposals and presentations. Estimate, track, and report project costs and schedules while managing scope & risk. Provide input to technical & product roadmaps.

Bachelor's Degree in applicable engineering or science field, and at least ten years of related experience.

Some travel will be required.

Basic Qualifications

*

Must have experience in ANSYS analysis of structural, dynamic, and thermal loads

*

Must have design and documentation experience on Solidworks 3-D modeling toolset.

*

Knowledge of commercial and military electronic packaging form factors

*

Ability to quickly acquire technical domain knowledge and contribute to the design/implementation of sophisticated architectural systems.

*

Ability to work proactively and be self-directed, requiring limited oversight

*

Experience working with Subcontracts managers and ability to develop accurate Statements of Work for the procurement of subcontracted items

*

Demonstrated ability to make sound, well-informed decisions

*

Demonstrated ability to perform technical interchange (written and verbal) directly with program leadership and customers.

*

Demonstrated efforts to perform against and improve processes and streamline efforts to reduce cost, shorten delivery time and increase quality

*

Proven track record in developing products for DOD application

*

Ability to lead a team of development staff in a Project Engineering role including tracking schedules and budgets

*

Knowledge of Mil Standards including DO-160 and MIL-STD-810G
